Adventure Class and crafter

Pathfinder Online

Hello guys. I've been dipping in and out of this forums and i'm trying to clarify some ideas about classes and gathering/processing/crafting:

- Can I be a lvl 20 mage with gat/pro/craft skills without malus on my lvl class cap so I can get the FINAL SKILL :P

- It is decided yet that the level 20 caps would be changed for a dedication bonus?

Maybe it's been resolved already, but its imposible to me to find a final answer.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, if I understand your question. You'll definitely be able to reach the pinnacle of being a Wizard and also reach the pinnacle of being a Gatherer/Processor/Crafter (and also reach the pinnacle of Fighter/Rogue/Cleric, too!)

Yes.

The plan is that there are basically three types of Feat:

  • Single-Role feats are linked to a single role like Fighter, Wizard, etc. Past the simplest ones, you probably have to have levels in that role as a prereq for purchase. So things like Weapon Specialization (Fighter) qualify.
  • Multi-Role feats may count for a short list of roles. So if there are Divine feats that make sense for both Paladins and Clerics, we'll probably just make them count towards either role rather than inventing slightly different versions for each. But they still wouldn't count towards Fighter, for example.
  • General feats are effectively multi-role feats for every role. These are fairly common for attacks, and there are a decent number of them for passive feats (iron will, toughness, etc.) and other sections. But there aren't any for things like the role feature slot (just to head off the "what dedication bonus do I get if I have only general feats slotted?" :) ).

You'll get the dedication bonus if all your slotted feats fit a single role, either because they're single-role for that role, multi-role and include that role, or general.

As currently conceived, the "Dedication" system replaces the previous idea of "Capstones" (as something you would only get if you take all 20 levels of a role in sequence).

The feats you unlock by getting a role up to 20 may be something exciting we save for your "max level," but you'll get access to them no matter what multiclassing path took you to 20.

Yup, and it should only take you 4 short years!

I though I read somewhere that the skill cap for PFO would be equivalent to level 12 in PnP?

I understand that is about where tier 2 ends and tier 3 begins. How powerful tier 3 gets, I do not know

Also, don't forget this:

Also, Pathfinder Online is going to focus primarily on the kinds of classic adventure content that the tabletop game features at moderate levels—exploring dangerous areas and confronting monsters and villains that are scary and dangerous, but not challenging cosmic horrors or universe-destroyers.
So even though we're planning on keeping the idea of 20 merit badges ("levels") per class, the overall power range we're talking about in Pathfinder Online is really going to be equivalent to about levels 6 to 10 of the RPG. So the 1st through 4th merit badges will generally provide benefits that would be appropriate for 6th-level RPG characters, and the 17th through 20th merit badges will offer benefits more on par with those offered to a 10th-level RPG character.

That makes room for class expansions down the road. Maybe after 4-6 years they can start introducing Tier 4 stuff and the 28-32 merit badges would be like 15th-level which might take 2 years or so to achieve.

I don't think that's what they have in mind. My understanding is that the plan is for PFO to stay in that Heroic Adventuring sweet-spot for its entire duration. If they don't, then individual Characters become capable of changing the world on a global scale.

True. I know with TT, as both GM and Player I enjoyed more when the games stayed in the 5th - 10th level range. Once we got into the high levels, things got more ridiculous and hard to come up with good adventures as a GM.

I'd rather see more "classes" as time goes on, in addition to adding things to build. War golems seem to be the thing I keep gravitating toward in my ideas of the tenth year.
