I would go by CR of the aberration a swop stuff out, or you could use the same statistics as the monster on the summoning list and describe them like they are crazy monster from the Dark Tapestry. Like use the wolf stats but say its a tentacle slap instead of a bite.
Also check out the shadow caller racial archetype for fetchlings. I bring this up since that archetype switches out some of the standard options for a more shadowy selection on almost every level, so it might be a decent enough guide line on how to properly create your own, more tentacl-y list.
At the very least, it shows which options you should dump when you go from a summoning list full of heavily aligned creatures to a "morality is beneath me" kind of list.
Another option would be to look into qlippoth. Those always seemed rather lovecraftian in flavor.

Looking at the template...it is almost point for point comprable to the current celestial/fiendish templates...
Only exception is the addition of this ability...
Alternate Form (Su): As a standard action, a pseudonatural creature can take the form of a grotesque, tentacled mass (or another appropriately gruesome form, as determined by the DM). Despite the alien appearance, its abilities remain unchanged. Other creatures receive a -1 morale penalty on their attack rolls against a pseudonatural creature when it is in this alternate form.
Is a -1 morale penalty enough to adjust the CR higher ?

There's a Summoner Archetype from Legendary games that turns you into a very Alienist style summoner. I forget which book, but they have a lot of good material if you're looking for some gothic horror-ish stuff.
Don't suppose anyone remembers the name ???
I'm only finding one product fro Legendary games, and it
doesn't appear to have that archytype.

Nah. It might be enough to lower the minimum level for that CR +1, but probably not.

This expanded summon monster list includes some good additions of the sort you're looking for.
