With area affect blast spells, I'd say yes. The items (especially flammable things like scrolls or fabric equipment) could be destroyed by a fireball or flamestrike. Potions are particularly fragile, and can be destroyed by fire and cold.
I really only enforce such if the target is actually killed by said blast, however.
Of course, this is all houserule stuff- I'm not sure what the RAW is.

in pathfinder according to raw, yes.
anything flammable will take fire damage if aoe spells are used. acid and lightning will do this also but they have different causes of damage then combustion.

magic item is unattended and rolls a 1, it takes 50% damage
unattended mundane objects take 50% and light on fire if combustible, GM has the option to make combustible take full damage Vrs fire.
