How does the Tarrasque have a 15-20 threat range with a bite attack? A normal bite attack only crits on a natural 20, bur with the Improved Critical feat that would be increased to a 19-20 crit range. There doesn't seem to be any special note about how the Tarrasque has such a high crit range, am I missing something?

I believe you are missing the fact that it's a TARRASQUE!!!
Seriously though it's probably just that the Tarrasque from 3.5 had this
Augmented Critical (Ex)
The tarrasque’s bite threatens a critical hit on a natural attack roll of 18-20, dealing triple damage on a successful critical hit.
So when they gave it improved critical they just used the 3.5 stats and did not include this ability in the description

Conversion issues?
The 3.5 Tarrasque (d20srd.org) list the Bite as: Bite +57 melee (4d8+17/18-20/×3) and lists one of the Special Abilities as Augmented critical
The tarrasque’s bite threatens a critical hit on a natural attack roll of 18-20, dealing triple damage on a successful critical hit.
Take that and drop Improved Critical into the mix. (which this version of Tarrasque did not have).
And good grief look at all those ninja's

BAD PEZLER for making me laugh! :D
At least it doesn't have the Katamari feat. I can only imagine how awkward things would be if cities started getting stuck to its shell.

It's all in the timing. That fizziness you feel in your head is your mind trying to process the awesomeness. Either that, or the coke is dissolving your sinuses.

I understand that it might be a conversion issue, but I feel like they could have at least mentioned it in an errata or something? Also Tarrasque is not listed under unique monsters. He is listed under Spawn of Divine Destruction.
When you have a Spawn of Divine Destruction, you never want more than one of them.
