Best race for mysterious stranger?

Advice

Title says it. Charisma and dex and is an odd combo for a rAce and most that can choose an attribute have wasted alternate traits. To me it's between half orc and human. Human has the feats but half orc with sacred tattoo and dark vision wins when u get into the deeper levels. Then two human can get +2 to dex and charisma if he sacrifices feat and skilled.

Plz discuss.

I'm pretty sure Catfolk get +2 dexterity and charisma.

Core races: Halfling, Human

Featured: Azata-Blooded Aasimar, Div-Spawn Tiefling (can also take prehensile tail for effective TWFing, so probably this is the best race)

There a re abuttload of races that boost dex & cha:

Halfling, drow, catfolk, azatablooded aasimar, div-spawn tiefling, fetchling, dhampir, kitsune, vishkanya.

Halfing is probably the easiest choice. Others have interesting abilities, but they dont specifically aid a gunslinger.

Human, while an ok choice, should never choose the ability to have another +2 to one stat. That is NOT worth one feat & +1 skill point per level. In my eyes anyway.

I should clarify a bit.... Are there any race abilities beyond the stats that are worthwhile? I'd prefer to use something from core but I am not limiting myself to that.

Something that I neglected to add, was what is a race that is polarizing but falls just short of being impaled on sight by 90% of the pathfinder races?

Finally, I admit I never thought of a halfling but I need something that is more imposing or at least dangerous in appearance than a small creature. Picture the old west with a man in a black clothes, black duster and hat coming into town and the nervous moment for the sheriff as he tries to assess if the stranger is a threat. Now picture that guy is not human... I want that half shock value.

Dark Archive

Dhampir sounds good for that. I think there's an alt racial trait in the ARG that lets you swap the light blindness for something else.

Well, as far as I know, there are NO racial abilities that synergise with gunslinger beyond stats.

Now if you want "somewhat threatening" species, there are none that give you what you want. Vishkania look slightly inhuman, have freaky eyes and stuff. Tieflings&dhampir have physical traits that are reminiscent of evil creatures. Drow are mostly evil. You're going to get a LOT of people suspicious of you, if only because of rarity. (assuming golarion)

Anything else is just fluff. Halflings can be just as imposing as you want them to be.

On top of that, we can only give you mechanical help without more info. Maybe make an intimidate build? Would fit with the charisma.

I wouldn't recommend the halfling because of the lower damage for using a small weapon, myself.

That's helps. If no race clearly is advantaged in gunslinger beyond the stats then options open up. What I will need then is...

1) improved saves, even if conditional
2) adaptability to uncommon conditions (total darkness, exotic climates, dehydration, etc)
3) skill enhancements to awareness and social skills

Based on my list and what has been pointed out dayborn dhampir grabs my eye as does half orc. Will look through the list u have all provided for more illumination.

I'd go half-orc personally. Take the fate's favored trait (to bust "lucky"). I'll reflect on it some more but nothing's coming to mind.

If you intend to TWF go with a Div-Spawn tiefling with a prehensile tail.

If you start at low lvl, The Human with the bonus feat is unmatched. The extra skill point covers your 3rd need too.

If you start at higher lvls, a half-orc with the sacred tattoo and fate's favored trait gives the best saves. The shaman's apprentice alt racial trait also gives endurance, which covers nicely your 2nd need.

losing ~ 1 damage on a die roll in exchange to +1 to every attack, AC, and the unsung perks of size small is a pretty minor problem.

As with the barbarian, whether I roll a d12 + 75 or a d4 + 75 is kind of irrelevant in the long term.
