We all know you can't take 10 in combat because you're in immediate danger and distracted.
But, the recent thread about negative levels got me thinking about disease and negative levels and making the saves. If after being infected or otherwise afflcited with a negative level or etc you decided that you were going to go climb in bed and rest for the next couple days can you legal take 10 on your save against the affliction?
I think yes, but I'm interested in other peoples thoughts.
It may hinge on whether you think the disease or negative level is "immediate danger".

I think you can't because a 1 is an auto fail.
This never stops you from being able to take 10; the whole point of T10 is to succeed when a low roll would fail. (This is spelled out in the T10 rules.)
-------------------------------------
As to the OP's question, T10 is a mechanic specific to skills (plus a note that you can also use it on ability checks). This is clearly stated in the T10 rules (which are in the Skills chapter of the CRB, in fact). Thus, no T10 on saves.

Good call. I knew there had to be some reason it didn't work. Regularly you only make saves in combat so it's not something that comes up often in the first place. I totally forgot that it only applied to skill/ability checks though.

For what it's worth, you could have found the answer faster here, and you wouldn't have to take anyone's word for it. I know some sites (such as d20pfsrd.com) are blocked by some folks' work filters, but if you can get to here you can get to the PRD, since it's part of the same website. :)

Oh I realize that now, I just totally forgot that it only applied to skill and abilities checks and in my mind I was thinking it could be used on saves, but didn't normally apply due to combat.
I should have double checked the PRD first...I just didn't think it all the way through. Sadly...I even read the entry about taking 10...I just failed my perception check to notice it mentions skills only about a half dozen times...sometimes...ughhh. I just feel stupid.
