Light spells....different colors.

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Shadow Lodge

Light spells normally give off light similar to a torch or daylight, is there anything in the rules about light spells of colors others the normal.

Silver Crusade

Honestly, that falls well within the realm of aesthetic skinning, which I believe most GMs would be perfectly fine with. It's no different from a Desnan sorcerer casting butterfly fireworks rather than snapdragon fireworks.(and honestly, Sesnans might prefer a blue-tinged light anyways)

Scarab Sages

I would say that the color of light does not effect anything mechanically, and so can be any color you want (except black/clear). If you wanted there to be some cost to it you could have the caster use spellcraft to craft the spell how you want.

Because you'll never want to go into a Calistrian temple ever again.

That's part of my explanation for differences in spellbooks certain basics have to be adhered to but the aesthetics can be changed how you like. For example a fireball will always be a ball of fire but lights could be blue, green, purple etc. The phantom steed could be a mighty warhorse, a riding dog, a great shark same stats different appearance.

"Make haste, Toothy! There is no time to dawdle while the necromancer works! And quit biting my leg!"

i agree, i don't see why anyone would have a problem with such a simple aesthetic change. But if you wanted to put some form of mechanic to it, i could see using prestidigitation after casting light to change the hue.
