Heroic Fray - D&D 2nd edition Combat and Tactics

Homebrew and House Rules

Anyone remember this optional rule? Basically it represented the party getting swamped by an overwhelming force of low level enemies. singl hit dice at 5th level - some level (i forget) after a certain level (10 i think) a fray could be declared against slightly tougher stuff though always a certain amount of hit dice below the party. I forget whet the effects were exactly, could probably look it up on the internet, but it pretty accurately simulated stuff like the Fellowship's stand against the Orcs in Moria or any number of wild scenes from films (right down to Conan and Bambaata getting attacked by all those starving looking cultists in that terrible movie Conan the Destroyer).

I've been wanting to get hold of those rules so i could try to adapt it for Pathfinder. Had a blast with it in old 2e.

Actually I just got that book off Drivethru RPG along with Spells and Magic (Was a big fan of the 2E Spell point systems) so if you are looking for a PDF copy you can get it there

Another one you could check out is Adamant press's Saga: Narrative Combat system
