Has there been an official rule clarification for what happens if you take a feat/trait/PrC/whatever that adds to or advances a feature you don't have?
For example, the Psychic Fist PrC (from Dreamscarred) specifies that it advances some of your monk abilities. It is, however, possible to enter the PrC without having any levels in monk. Does this mean ...
1. You gain the appropriate abilities of a 1st level monk, or
2. This feature just does nothing?

Unless otherwise noted if you don't have that feature it's just a wasted ability.
