a druid and a monk

Advice

i am a full druid, thinkning if its worth dipping 1 level into manever master monk.

its will hurt:
anumal companion progress (can feat for it)
wild shape progress (can feat for it )
spell casting and CL

i will gain:
extra action each round (will it work with wild shape? )
3 to all saves
4 to Ac (wisdom) - a big boost...
what manever? i think of dirty trick or trip - although i wont have the int for greater feat.

Sovereign Court

Nothing quite like Kung Fu Panda/Bear to make any sessions into a blast.

Silver Crusade

Grapple- panda wild shape. Congrats. you now have the (wushu?) Hold. :p

I wouldn't do it. That druid level is just worth more at most levels.

Sczarni

doesn't 1 level of monk only confer a +2 to all saves?
If you had the trait Magical Knack you could take 2 levels of Monk and not hurt your caster level, right?

Silver Crusade

I was about to call out, "No! Don't do it! Don't gimp your caster level." Then I re-read the OP and looked it up. That's a lot of utility benefits for a 1 level loss in primary casting level. Upon reflection, perhaps it's a good idea. +4 AC, 1.5 feats, and a big boost to action efficiency, in exchange for one level loss as a high level primary caster. That's a big boost to martial ability for a medium loss of spell casting power.

I agree; a single level of monk can be a tremendous boost to a melee-focused druid. (It's common enough that it's got its own cutesy name -- "drunk" or "kung-fu panda.") It's one of the few ways, IMHO, to make a grapple-focused character that actually works well. It boosts all your saving throws and your AC (if you don't use wild armor, which is vastly overpriced.)

If you want to be a caster-druid, then you won't get much benefit out of it.

This is the Fleury of Maneouvers bonus? I thought it'd quickly be rendered nearly useless as it's stuck at a CMB of 1 + str mods (says monk level, not character BAB). I guess blinding casters for 1 round for free might still be a decent bonus.

Also, how do you get +3 to all saves? A monk has +2 to all saves, but a druid is either +1/+0/+1 or +0/+1/+0, which seems to me like a net gain of +1/+2/+1 or +2/+1/+2 depending on druid level, unless I'm missing something (which is quite likely).

Flurry and Manuevers works like Flurry of Blows. There is a FAQ on Flurry of Blows. You are not stuck at 1 + str mod. It is character BAB.

Silver Crusade

Flurry of Maneuvers is normal flurries, + any Manuevers you want to use at the end of the normal attack at a -2. Least thats how I read it.
