all it does is make most kids feel inferior. That is bad for their self-esteem.
similarly, we should cancel NASA -- because all the smart people make the dumb people feel inferior.
We need to make everybody equal

Heh. Getting rid of the Olympics would likely be a big favour to humanity today, considering the shady dealings, corruptions and crap around the selection of cities, deals and so on. It's more a hotbed of piss today than it ever was. Similarly, they try and try to stop cheating through various chemical substances, only to fail, so you need to do that but not get caught doing it if you want even a chance to win.
For all the Olympics' faults, making children (and adults) "feel inferior" is pretty far down the list.
Also, -10 points to House Tensor for having not read Harrison Bergeron.
By that logic I'd have to stop posting here! :)

The Olympics has made considerable progress. They no longer throw women off the cliffs for trying to compete. Although I'm strongly in favor of bringing back the old rule of making everyone compete in the buff. :)

Too late. They already came to my city in 1988.
We should teach the people to not throw so much money into watching sport. The primary problem with them is the amount of money involved.

I wonder what that would look like... cue wavy lines...

I'd say keep them, but stop moving them every time. Establish a single location and hold them there every 4 years.
The amount of money wasted on building the facilities and all the support infrastructure is ridiculous. And most of it goes to waste afterwords. Smaller, less developed countries practically bankrupt themselves for the prestige and the supposed economic boom, but there's no real evidence it's worth it.

That's actually a pretty cool idea.
Technically everyone is a genetic mutant.
