Ranged disarm?

Advice

Is there any way within the RAW to disarm someone at a distance without using magic? Like, throw a dagger to knock a wand out of someone's hand, type of thing?

Archer Fighter archetype... short of that, not that I am aware of.

Trick Shot;

Spoiler:
At 3rd level, an archer can choose one of the following combat maneuvers or actions: disarm, feint, or sunder. He can perform this action with a bow against any target within 30 feet, with a –4 penalty to his CMB. Every four levels beyond 3rd, he may choose an additional trick shot to learn. These maneuvers use up arrows as normal.

Though you 'could' argue that this ability still doesn't let them make ranged disarms.

Just because you can use a bow to make a disarm doesn't inherently mean you can do so with a ranged attack.

Just because it says you can do this within 30 feet doesn't inherently mean your bow or you are big enough or have enough reach to do so.

I know that RAI is to allow him to use ranged attacks to perform combat maneuvers, but it doesn't 'actually' say that he can.

Okay, we don't have an archer fighter. Is there any other way under the RAW to do this?

A whip is close.

Yes, a whip lets you make disarm attempts from 10' away. That's a step in the right direction, agreed.

But otherwise, the Trick Shot power is the *only* way to disarm someone at range? There's nothing that would let (for instance) a gunslinger shoot something out of someone's hand?

Actually, the Whip reaches 15 feet away.

There is something that specifically lets a Gunslinger shoot something out of someone's hand. It's a class feature.

Targeting (Ex): At 7th level, as a full-round action, the gunslinger can make a single firearm attack and choose part of the body to target. She gains the following effects depending on the part of the body targeted. If a creature does not have one of the listed body locations, that part cannot be targeted. This deed costs 1 grit point to perform no matter which part of the creature she targets. Creatures that are immune to sneak attacks are immune to these effects.

•Arms: On a hit, the target takes no damage from the hit but drops one carried item of the gunslinger’s choice, even if the item is wielded with two hands. Items held in a locked gauntlet are not dropped on a hit.

And non gunslingers can get the deed via feats...

in theory you could house rule the call shot, call shot hand, pray, and if you hit weapon goes flying

Aklys:

(Exotic)
Light Melee Weapons Cost Dmg (S) Dmg (M) Critical Range Weight1 Type2 Special Source
Aklys 5 gp 1d6 1d8 ×2 20 ft. 2 lbs. B performance, trip

The aklys is a hooked throwing club with a 20-foot cord attached. Some aklys have holes drilled in them and whistle when thrown, making them ideal for throwing down long, dark tunnels.

Benefit: An aklys has a maximum range of 20 feet, allowing the user to retrieve the thrown aklys as a move action. The hook allows you to make trip attacks at range.

Features: trip

If you are large/have potion of enlarge person/can use a weapon that is larger than your size that's 25 ft
I was thinking of making an aklys using magus for truestrike disarming fun.
(get the returning property so you don't have to use a move action to retrieve the hooked throwing club)

A Called Shot to the hand, if it crits, will cause the target to drop a held item from that hand and Called Shots can be done at range (with a penalty). Even if it doesn't crit, the normal debuff it applies causes the target to drop their weapon on an attack roll of a natural 1. Note that if the object is held in both hands, it isn't dropped outright, they just lose grip with the targeted hand. If it's a debilitating hit, however, they drop the object even if it's held in both hands.

Rules on Called Shots
