I'm interested in converting Scarwall to a PC-owned fortress once the AP is over. Would this be possible? Or is Scarwall so horribly evil that the edifice can never be redeemed by the efforts of PC paladins or priests of good gods?

I'd say it could be done, but you're charging up against one of ZK's most fortified strongholds. He'll bring everything he has to bear against you, and then some. In many ways Scarwall is a living (or unliving) thing unto itself, one that will take more to defeat than simply beating it senseless with weapons and spells.

The star tower and the castle might draw different protagonists. If Scarwall has been cleansed of undead, then the orcs will be very interested in it. The tower on the other hand serves an important function and there are those who would like to see it fall. Mythic Realms contained once such antagonist who had been going around trying to destroy star towers. Goodly characters might find it difficult to accept that the tower and its evil curate are a necessity. All that being said I think it's possible and could make for really interesting post campaign play.

Sounds fun if you start incorporating mythic stuff. Also consider that the same thing that happened the last time the Scarwall was taken could happen: The Orcs decide to do something about it. Sure they decided to stay hands-off after the last time, but if they find out the curse has been lifted/souls freed etc etc, it'll be a tempting target again.

Also, keep in mind that Orcs are also a big worshipper of Rovagug. They might be very interesting in storming Scarwall to destroy the Star Tower if they ever learn it's purpose. It might very well be that the best way to 'do good' is to leave it haunted, so that Scarwall, the spirits and the evil of Zon-Kuthon can keep the Orcs at bay.

I completed my groups follow-on to CotCT over the holidays. I'm an old school gamer and a big fan of WoG, and I really enjoy bringing the old modules back to life for my younger group to enjoy. I converted S4 The Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth for my follow on. The party's paladin while investigating under Castle Korvosa was imprisoned by Sorshen in the Prison of Zagig (I renamed it the prison of Eros)to drive the party. I used King Arobasti's opening of Bloodsworn Vale as a cover for his search for Sorshen's greatest treasures and the caverns, and made Drelzna Sorshen's daughter. I came up with this idea shortly after we finished the campaign in 2012. Everyone had a blast, and I worked the new mythic rules in for the party by giving Drelzna a few mythic tiers and having her defeat act as the catalyst for the players to take their first mythic tier.
One of CotCT strengths lies in the ease with which it lends itself to follow on campaigns and adventures. I have half-baked plans to convert the 3.5 Dungeon magazine levels of Maure Castle into Sorshen's tomb.

EDIT: Dungeon 112 apparently also has some Maure Castle stuff in it as well, a quick search revealed =)
