Treasure Generation :Goblin Lair

Advice

Liberty's Edge

I am building an adventure that involves the heroes delving in to a Goblin Lair. Its a good sized lair with 40 WARRIORS...80 NON COMBATANT..6th lvl warrior Chieftan..5th lvl Adept and two 3rd lvl warrior. I used the rules in chapter 14 to generate NPC gear for the leaders but how do I generate the Lair treasure for the goblins? Do i just do treasure per room...as I am filling out the room descriptions..?

Generally treasure is per encounter. So you have at least 4 set piece fights (chieftan, adept, level 3 warriors). Beyond those you have to figure you've got at least another 36 level 1 goblin warriors (each of your set pieces should have at least one extra goblin for action economy) so if you figure an avg of 3 goblins/encounter, this makes 12 encounters. I figure you generate 12 level 1 treasures and 4 potentially higher level ones to represent more dangerous foes overcome.

If each of the 12 CR 1 treasures is roughly worth 260 GP, these alone amount to 3120 GP. If you just go simply and say

level 3 warrior set piece = CR 2 treasure
Level 5 adept set piece = CR 3 treasure
level 6 chieftan set piece = CR 4 treasure

Then you're looking at an additional 2500 GP for a total of 5620 GP. Now that tells you how much GP worth of added treasure to throw in the dungeon; the question now is what that looks like and where it is.

If it were me, I'd make one 5000 GP gem and 62,000 CP in 1240 small belt pouches and have all of these in a hidden vault in an innocuous hallway, but to each their own.

If you want to add a bit more treasure to the vault, then perhaps add a trap or some guardians with no treasure of their own (like vermin, skeletons or zombies). If the players are new to rpgs, perhaps drop hints that there's a trap (bloodstains or scorch marks or even the corpse of the goblin that tried to break in).

If you want to really terrorize your players, make about 1000gp of treasure be alchemical items and give them to the goblins to throw at the party.

Question not sure if it works but I stumble upon a random loot generator on d20psfd.... Would that work or do most gm's avoid using those?

I love those. I just click the generate button half a dozen times and pick the treasure hoard that I like best.
