Ironwood lute

I was thinking of having my bard wield an ironwood lute as a weapon with the rough and ready trait. Is this PFS legal? Furthermore, is it actually a good idea or just whimsy on my part?

Ironwood isn't listed as a legal material in any of the additional resources. This means you would need to buy it as a spellcasting service, but you would need to purchase the spell at the beginning of every game. Because ironwood is not on the list of spells that carry over from game to game.

Right! Good point!

Props for style though!

Once you are mid to high level and have some extra cash, perhaps invest in a bag of holding and just carry a supply of disposable lutes?

For the old timers among us, I reference the great warrior-minstrel, El Kabong.

And here I thought that was what the spell Summon Instrument was for...

I actually ran a character for one scenario named "Le Kapow," who used a guitar as an improvised weapon. I might have to revisit that this weekend...

That's what you'd use Summon Instrument for.
