So here's the thing. I'm sitting here at work checking out the order that I placed with Paizo as part of the Great Golem Sale, and I started to reminisce about what this game means to me. When the other lot lost the plot and developed 4th edition, it was a very easy decision for me to jump to Pathfinder and I have not looked back as it's such a superior game.

I started playing DnD as a teen back in the early 80's, and have been an avid roleplayer ever since. Back then there was a mid-40's bald chubby bloke that had every book, miniature and module known to man. He was the envy of all of us younger players. Oh to have such gear!
Well, after going nuts at the Golem sale over the weekend I have now officially become that bloke (except I still have a complete head of hair).

So the question is why have I become him? I guess it's because I love this game so much. I'm currently running the Shattered Star for 2 separate groups of friends and find it both challenging and incredibly rewarding. I've been playing with some of these people since I started out; it's been something that's kept us together for all these years. My wife plays in the other group so it's a bit of a family affair which is nice (although hitting her with a critical has caused me a bit of grief). I may even start up a session with my youngest son over the holidays.

I really don't know why I started this post, but I think what I'm trying to say is thanks Paizo. Thanks for the incredible game that you've continued to develop and I really look forward to playing it for many years to come.

Thanks so much for making Pathfinder your game. I too have been around the block since the early 80's and producing Pathfinder has been a breath of fresh air for my RPG gaming. Glad so many of you agree. :)

The Exchange

Indeed, Pathfinder is incredible, I haven't been a roleplayer for long, start playing with 3.5 but didn't get into it until about 5 years ago when a friend introduced me to pathfinder and now it controls my life, I play about 4 sessions a week, trying to own all the adventure paths (thanks to golem sale I have almost met this goal :D) and like Prux mentioned I too have seen those gentlemen, the envy of others who wish they could afford all the books, as I write this I am looking at the large pile of books and referencing material sitting beside me and knowing that it is far less than half of the rest of my collection and from the golem sale I more than doubled my collection. I just really want to add that I too love pathfinder, I am glad that my friend introduced it to me and I shall continue to introduce new players to the game.

Mr Prux,

Well said sir.
As a member of one of your groups, I was first daunted by Pathfinder, as like you started in the 80's with first edition (The Blue and the Red books), to 2nd Edition, and then a looooooong hiatus...

From those first games, going wtf?....to now being one of the sneakiest buggers, and the one that upsets my DM...

So thanks Paizo for reawakening my childhood... so that I can pass this on to my own children.

For me, from a GM's point of view, Paizo's strength continues to be its adventures. Where in the past (3.5 and before) finding a decent adventure was the GM's hardest job, we are now bathing in luxury.

If it hadn't been for Dungeon Magazine (with some of its Paizo crew) there wouldn't have been a lot of good adventures to construct a good campaign in 3.0 and 3.5 days. Now, with all the Paizo adventures and AP's, we can choose from a wide range of scenario's that suit a variety of settings and playing styles. We can actually afford not to play some truly excellent modules because there are even better things lying around. And of course, what is 'better' for me and my group is not better for another group, but with a rich pallet to choose from, that group will find its favorite as well.

So this is the main reason to say thanks to Paizo ... apart from the fact that they offer great books on setting, extra rules ... and they are great at listening to their customers ... and expand their material to miniatures ... and they are friendly to other companies who use the open game license ... you know, the list goes on for a while.

I started with the D&D Red Box just after High School and had been through editions 1 to 3.5 before moving on to Pathfinder a couple of years ago. I agree with the the others here in that the Pathfinder game system is excellent.

Although our group is totally Table Top, much prep is done on PC and tablets used at the table so I would also like to add how brilliant the PFSRD is.

And there are some fantastic accessory products available. Even while playing D&D 3.5 I was buying cards, dice cups, etc. and of course my favourite of all, the magnetic initiative mat. I have yet to find anything to beat this ON or OFF LINE.

So I gratefully chime in: THANKS!

I'll add to the chorus.

My primary group game is HERO. But the wife and I both game (I met her because she was the GM of a group I joined). And we always like doing 1 on 1 roleplay. We've been doing that since 1st edition. We skipped 2nd, and when 3rd was released I was very excited at the flexibility in the system. I played it pretty steadily until 4th. Tried that for a year. Didn't work for us.
I didn't play D&D for a bit, and then heard the rumors of D&D Next, and got excited again - new D&D.... then I thought I still have all the D&D I loved with my 3.x stuff. And I heard about Pathfinder and tried it out.

Been a huge fan since.

Marrying the GM, the ultimate way to min-max your character! :)

One of the highlights of my first Paizocon was getting to meet all the folks responsible for my favorite game in person, shake their hands, and thank them for all the joy they've provided for me and my friends over the years.
