The Ring of Counterspells will be perfect. Thanks avr!

I should also add that it should not prevent other magic i.e. Anti Magic Field would not be appropriate.

Hi All

Does anyone know of an existing item that counteracts the effects of "Dimensional Anchor"?

In other words, ability to learn spells at any time, after a period of one hour, as long as the 24 hour limit of "Spells per Day" is observed, although, as a house rule, I allow Spell per Day replenishment after an 8 hour rest.

:)

That's cool. That's what I meant. :)

Ah, well ... Questions... yes. I seem to remember something about all characters needing 8 hours rest (So, apart from Elves, needing less - 4 hours if I remember rightly). However, a Druid Player in a recent campaign told me he only needs the one hour. My memories may be attributed to DnD 3.5 but I would appreciate any other input.

Serisan, your first point DOES seem to indicate that one hour is enough to relearn, as long as the DAILY LIMIT is adhered to. Does that make sense?

Thanks, worth thinking about, but Gosh! Flagged for wrong forum? I thought it was a Rules Question..... (Sorrry!)

In PFSRD it states that druid needs to spend one hour in a trance-like meditaion to learn spells. Does the character also require a rest period to be able to do this after daily spells have been exhausted. i.e. Is it 1 + 8 hours or just 1 hour?

I'm with EnterisShadow and Rynjin on this one. Let it happen. Metagame over stricture. Unless it is part of the game design to work with limited resources in an ultra planned way, its best just to let people rest and replenish. You can always stick in a wee random encounter just to keep them on their toes though, but don't make it a major thing.

I read and liked the article. Basically Fantasy RPGs are more accepted now and that is a good thing. I never really felt part of any war, and I suppose I am still marginalised just by the sheer numbers of people who DON'T play FRPGs. But hey, that's cool too! I'll never stop slaying demons, fighting evil and ridiculing halflings!

I loved reading the story at the beginning and remember very well my own humble beginnings with a RED BOX set bought in a nearby city, the meeting of ADVANCED players and my own first GM experience with a "hand-made" multilevel campaign based on "The Mines of Moria".

I would also like to add that in later years, though I now exclusively play PATHFINDER, Paizo has always supplemented my games with excellent quality products in a tradition that happily continues to this day.

I started with the D&D Red Box just after High School and had been through editions 1 to 3.5 before moving on to Pathfinder a couple of years ago. I agree with the the others here in that the Pathfinder game system is excellent.

Although our group is totally Table Top, much prep is done on PC and tablets used at the table so I would also like to add how brilliant the PFSRD is.

And there are some fantastic accessory products available. Even while playing D&D 3.5 I was buying cards, dice cups, etc. and of course my favourite of all, the magnetic initiative mat. I have yet to find anything to beat this ON or OFF LINE.

So I gratefully chime in: THANKS!

We used to do something similar, but after it killed one villain and SIX PCs, we gave it up.

Wow! Surely, you must be using weighted dice! ;)

Reading through this thread, there are so many variations on logistics that almost anything can happen. I believe in the power of the Natural 20 over other rule mechanisms so in my games I go:
Natural 20 (Hit - roll to confirm CRIT)
Natural 20,20 (Confirmed Crit - MAX DAMAGE)
Natural 20,20,20 - DEAD! (Unless it is a Deity)

Works every time! :)

Thanks for all the insights so far.

Does anyone have any thoughts on whether damage can also be inflicted while using the TRIP maneuver?

That makes sense. The Sickle has a "TRIP" property so I presume I could therefore add the +1 for masterwork quality to a trip attempt but not to a bull rush or any other combat maneuver.

If using the Trip combat maneuver, does that automatically negate damage dealt?

In the PFSRD attack roll with a melee weapon is stated as being BAB + STR Mod + Size Mod.
(Surely Weapon Enhancement - including +1 attack for masterwork - should be added to this as well?)

CMD is also stated as being BAB + STR Mod + Special Size Mod
(Should Weapon Enhancement be added to this roll?)

If I have a strength +2 and 0 BAB and I attack with a masterwork sickle, so that attack should be d20+3 (STR2 and Mwk1) Vs AC of opponent. (Size is Medium)

The rules state that to perform a combat maneuver, you must make an attack roll and add your CMB in place of your normal attack bonus. So, would this be the same?

Let's say I want to TRIP - Do I still add the enhancement bonus?
e.g. BAB + Str + Mwk for a roll of d20+3 v CMD. Is this right? (I know there will be an AoO)

At next level I want to take Improved Trip, which will negate the AoO and add +2. By the time I get this I will be BAB +1.
So at 2nd Level, I make normal attack to damage:
Attk d20+4 (BAB1, STR2, Mwk1) v AC for 1d6+2 dmg
Or choose to trip:
Trip d20+6 (BAB1, STR2, Mwk1, ImpTrp2) v CMD to knock prone if successful.
(can this trip also deal damage or is it an either/or scenario)

I would really appreciate some insight from experienced Pathfinder Players. I come from a D&D 3.5 background and am not accustomed to the CMB/CMD options but it seems to me that Pathfinder has left out the "ENHANCEMENT" section in their attack roll summary.
