I just noticed that the Additional Resources had this under the new Blood of the Moon Player Companion:
To create a skinwalker (which includes all were-kin), you must have a Chronicle sheet that opens the race as a legal option at character creation.
I haven't heard of any chronicle sheets for skinwalkers yet and was just wondering if anyone had come across them.
Maybe we'll be seeing them at conventions soon but I also had the suspicion that they might be appearing on the forthcoming Carrion Crown chronicle sheets. I'm personally hoping for the latter, as we have a group that just started playing through it and I'm sure we'd all have some fun with that boon.
Has anybody heard anything else?

I don't forsee them coming from carrion crown chronicle sheets unless they want to make them really common, in which case why not just let everyone play them without having to do what would likely be a multiday session?
I don't really think that would be too much of a concern. I'm sure you'd get some groups who would do it specifically for that reason but if it's on one of the higher level chronicle sheets then that limits it quite a bit too.
I mean, we've seen chronicle sheets that open up certain Improved Familiars and even Thassilonian Magic rules from Inner Sea Magic and not every caster is running around with these things.
I believe it is Broken Moon that features an article on lycanthropes and this is the third book in the series and so begins at 7th level. So if the ability to play a skinwalker was placed on this chronicle sheet you'd have to be at least 7th level to play it and take advantage of the boon. Not everyone has a 7+ character and an even fewer percentage who do have 7+ characters will bother to play through this adventure just to get the skinwalker boon.
Alternatively, the boon on the chronicle sheet could limit it to those who have multiple (or all) Carrion Crown chronicle sheets on the same character. This would be very very limiting and we might not see skinwalkers for a year or so but it would be an amazing boon for those who have made it through all (or at least a significant chunk) of the AP.
Personally I think the second option is a better one and avoids Dylos' concern of too many skinwalkers running around just because everyone played the one book that opened them up.

Except that one can run adventure paths in campaign mode with whatever house rules the GM allows, including something like 102 pb (Straight 18s) any race in the ARG - even those that are built with RP, limit 50 RP race, and gestalt.
How fast do you think that group would go through a AP, especially if the GM didn't modify the AP accordingly?
And even if you had to play it in pfs mode, there are level 7 pregens that can play level 7 modules.
Don't get me wrong, it'd be nice to see a race on a normal session sheet, and Skinwalkers should likely be a bit more common then things like Aaismar and Tieflings, even if most Skinwalkers are from another continent.

The Morphling wrote:I doubt these will be available in PFS anytime soon. The fact that the additional resources says they can be played with a chronicle sheet suggests they will be eventually. If there were no plans to release boons it would just say they're not legal.
I would wager the more likely reason is that in the past, they have made a race boon legal (like... the one catfolk one) before updating additional resources first, and then the people who got that boon start asking "when is AR getting updated so we can use XXX from the ARG on this new cool boon I got". Since AR updates typically happen only once a month, my guess is this was done preemptively to avoid that in the future.
This way, once they are opened up (whenever that is), people earning those boons can just go ahead and play them without having to wait for AR updates.
I'm pretty sure con season for '13-'14 will be elemental races.

I believe those are the four humors, John. Derived from the elements, of course, but a different beast all together.

Black bile, phlegm, blood, and skinwalker? Eww…those are going to be some unfortunate race boons.

Your suggestion that there's anything "unfortunate" or otherwise negative about those things just because you find them icky offends me! You're probably one of those so-called "good" people, aren't you?!

Guilty as charged.
I guess this means we'll need to spend a year going through the "icky" character races before we announce the gremlin cycle.

I'm still waiting for my Pugwampi boon from April.

I want a full on lycanthrope boon, I mean additional resources does go out of its way to say
Quote:The becoming a lycanthrope section of this book is not legal for Pathfinder Society play unless noted on a future Chronicle sheet.Forget skinwalkers, that is the chronicle sheet I want!
You can have that when they let me contract Vampirism.

All you guys can just weep with envy. I've got the super-rare "dead guy" race boon, where I can play a corpse.
Granted, I don't do much during most adventures, unless the party also includes a necromancer, but I add a poignant note to most Venture Captain briefings. Another bonus: I don't need to eat, drink, or breathe; it's like a free ioun stone.

And people say we don't reward our 5-star GMs!
Sign me up for playing at a table of only dead characters!
