Need help retraining feats; what class / archetype could work? Running out of ideas. :(

Advice

I have a Paladin that just hit level 9. I wanted to retrain 3 feats to get Edlritch Heritage (Arcana), Skill Focus Knowledge Planes, and Improved Familiar. I'm going to spend 1200 gold plus 15 Prestige Points as required.

However, I'm stuck in a bind. In PFS your character generally retires at level 13. On rare occasions such as at conventions, you can play the character beyond that (up to level 15, recently.) So I have my feats set out specifically:

1 Noble Scion [Scion of War]
3 Extra Lay On Hands
5 Greater Mercy
7 Ultimate Mercy
9 Angelic Blood
11 Angel Wings
13 <retired>

I'll be retraining Noble Scion and Extra Lay On Hands for 2 of the 3 feats mentioned above. The problem is that at level 9, I need to take a class with a bonus feat that I can retrain to any of those three feats.

Are there any classes or archetypes that get a bonus feat at 1st level that I can retrain into Eldritch Heritage, Skill Focus (Knowledge), or Improved Familiar?

The closest I could find is Tactician Fighter, but that would require 3 levels because they lose their bonus feat at 1st (but have access to Skill Focus.) Rogue would require 2 levels. Unfortunately, it needs to be a 1 level dip with a bonus feat.

Skill Focus seems the most likely candidate as a bonus feat. Any ideas?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Are you sure you want to do that? Keeping the paladin progression seems better to me, unless you want to retrain angelic blood and angelic wings. If anything, retraining noble scion for power attack is more appropriate.

Can you retrain extra lay on hands? Your CHA should be higher now than when you took the feat...

Extra Lay on Hands is one that I'm retraining, along with Noble Scion.

Exhaustive search, and there isn't a single class, archetype, domain, or mystery that get Skill Focus Knowledge at 1st level.

The only two classes I could find are Alchemist Mind Chemist and Tactician Fighter.

Sigh.

I just glanced at Edlritch Heritage (Arcane) and my big question is, what are you aiming for with it? You are giving up 2 lay on hands (which might be too much at your lvl) and Noble Scion give you a bonus to your init based off cha...not to mention you might have to lose a level to get the feats for eldritch, it just seems like you are giving up a lot.

I'm trying to get a Cassisian angel as a familiar for my Paladin.

I found the Field Agent prestige class, which would give Skill Focus in 2 levels. Hmm.
