From Nightmares

I just recently had a nightmare of children being altered by some outside force into killing machines. Pretty much imagine 8 to 10 year olds with pale skin, deep shunken eyes, and blank expression. Just charging around stabbing unnaturaly fast with butcher knives. If you disarm them they go into a catonic state till they see another knife...which they will grab and go into a killing spree again.

I woke up shaking in fear and had to sleep with a light on.

While I was laying in bed I thought this will be a great monster to stat up for PF(or any RPG really). Anyway I'll probably post the stat of the creature from my nightmares as soon as I get them done. And wondered if other gamers have ever turned their nightmares into monsters or adventures.

I remember one of the first characters I wrote up was a character created from a nightmare I had a kid. A character about slaying nightmares.

Nightmares can involve shared fears between people, such as primal fears or adult fears. What you do with what you dream of can vary pretty wildly though.

Imagine? I only have to look out of the window on a school morning, but that's what you get when you use television as a substitute parent ;)

Yeah I have a feeling the nightmare was somewhat 'inspired' by the fact that we aree goinmg to have 6 kids at Thanksgiving this year.

Some of my nightmares get really bizarre.

1. Small landing with a bed, suspended in the middle god knows where. stairs go up and down from the landing like a spiders web. The dim green light gives the appearance of being underwater, which is how you move when you start up or down any of the steps. It's either stay there, in the creepy light surrounded by a dark void around you or make your way along one of the stairs. after so far 'things' come after, and with the underwater slow movement, getting back to the safety of the green light and the bed is difficult and things grab at you and try and pull you deeper in.

2. apparition haunts me. I blame j-horror movies for this tiny, creepy Asian antagonist. For some reason the only place I'm safe is in the cockpit of a car that looks like a stretched Lamborghini with a secondary cocoon-like shell within the cockpit. This car has 5 axles, two in the front and 3 in the back with only the back two axles having larger tires.
No idea on this one. tried killing the apparition repeatedly, including sticking my hand in it and twirling it up into a gross ghost-taffy mess. Not even that can kill it. Back to the car.

3. Once I had a dream that a ghost was hovering over me trying to strangle me to death. I was trying to peel it's hands off of my throat and woke to find me choking myself, very hard. That was alarming.

4. Used to have a recurring dream about a 3 story cube of a building full of werewolves. I'd go through the front door and fight them to the top floor where some girl was. then they'd all rush me and push me out a window and I'd fall back down to the ground. Get up. all pissed, and do it again, and get shoved out the window again. get up, even more pissed and try again, and again end up falling out of the window. Then I left and found a cave nearby that had a giant red crab in it, that I rode out of town, being disgusted with the werewolves and all. Yes, that one was recurring.

Have fun with those.

All those are strange. Cool....my dreams are a little bit more grounded though...even my nightmares.

#3 reminds of a nightmare my sister has...anytime she sleeps on her back she has a nightmare of being suffocated.

When I have nightmares, they are almost always anxiety nightmares, which don't exactly work well for new monsters.

I'm not sure I have ever had a nightmare (or if I have, not a memorable one), so I have to use those of others, like this thread. I like the knife children idea.
