Um...the level eight ability would be describing what the "Large" evolution does to the Boordlord's eidolond(s)
As in...A normal Summoner would spend the points and get one large eidolon. The Broodlord spends the evolution points and gets two medium/Or four small/Or one medium and two small. Hence the 'Large' evolution for the Brood lord acts as increasing the brood.....not enlarging the eidolon.
My question pertains just to the size. As you pointed out, when ever the Summoner gains a new level they can make the size of their eidolon different. Noramlly to make/take a normal eidolon(Which starts at medium. Its default setting, if you will) down to the 'small' size costs an evolution point.
The Summoner can spend this point at first level as they determine the traits/feats/abilities of their eidolon if they wish. Then at 2nd level shift it back to medium.
In effect the Broodlord is getting two evolution points for free as they gain two small eidolons (Though the rules are obviously trying to 'halve' a normal, medium sized eidolon).
Or is my mind taking me into strange and distant places...?
