What / where is this spell?

There is a spell that causes a stony arm to spring out of the ground and attempts to hold a single target immobile. I think it's level 1. Where did I see it? (It might be from a previous edition of the game.) Anyone remember?

There's Binding Earth, but that has no actual hand(s).

Do you recall what character class could cast it? Was it arcane or divine?

Not quite what I remembered, but that's still pretty nifty! I'm thinking of something else...

It was probably arcane.

There is a spell that does that, but it is a 3.5 spell. It is in the spell compendium. Other than that, I would not know.
