Wayang Spellhunter + multiple metamagics?

If I have a trait such as Wayang Spellhunter or Magical Lineage, and I apply multiple metamagics to a single spell to which the trait applies, does the benefit apply to each, or just one?

Salient example: My Illusionist has Wayang Spellhunter (color spray). Were I to apply both Persistent Spell and Widen Spell to a single color spray, would the resulting spell use a 4th-level or 5th-level slot?

Calculate the total spell level including the metamagic, and ther substract one. 5th level for the persistend widnend color spray.

It either activates or it doesn't. If you apply a metamagic, it decreases the "final adjusted level". So it would be a 5th-level slot. That's better anyway because you could have weird stuff like applying a 0th level metamagic to lower the spell back down a slot, or sticking a ton of 1st level metamagics and making a really specialized character.

It applies once to the spell no matter how many metamagics you use.
