So, if your local con was to have a prize raffle just for GM's, what would you want to win? flipmats? mappacks? minis? Bestiary tokens?

A chance to play at a prearranged table with a (in)famous GM.

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/5 ***

But you can always do that anyway by just signing up/registering to do so. That SOUNDS cool, but in practice, I just don't see it as a prize or reward

Grand Lodge 4/5

Maybe not for a raffle, but the chance to play some of the newer scenarios first run by a VO. Like a Slot 0. It's something that our VO's do here for local cons.

As far as raffle prizes; miniatures, newly released core books, Adventure Paths, battlemats, wet-erase markers (they always seem to die at the worst times!), GM screens, the Pathfinder Goblin comics, just to name a little more than a few.

Well, I am an anomaly, but here it goes.

Minis. No, I make my own using cardstock and chipboard, they pack flat and I can scale them to whatever size I need, and I can make as many as I need. Besides, I can slot them so they can be mounted or take riders. Can't do that with minis.

Core Books. Maybe if they are PDF, but the last thing I want is a bunch of heavy books to carry with me.

Adventure Paths. Meh, again maybe PDF, but if I am gaming in PFS, most APs are not sanctioned, and if I am not gamin in PFS I would rather write my own.

Battlemats. Bulky, heavy, and once they get damaged permanently stained, leaving maps muddy and confusing. No thank you. I prefer to print my maps as room tiles. Quicker to lay out, and I can reprint damaged segments. (and less dealing with player metaknowledge.)

Wet erase Markers. Yes, but only if you can find some in really off beat colors. I tend to have plenty of the red/blue/green/black types.

GM screens. I only need one, and I have it already. (And I'm thinking of doing away with it, I don't like what it does to my gaming style.)

Pathfinder Goblin comics. Yeah, that would be awesome.

Nifty boons. I am a sucker for boons.

$20 gift certificate for printer ink and paper. You would not believe how much ink and paper I go through.

hehe, yes, ink and paper would be good :) Or maybe just having a few scenarios printed. Printing is indeed a big factor.

Minis are always nice, but often, there just aren't enough of the right minis (in most cases you have exactly 1 less than you need :P )

As for a slot at a famous GM's table... I'd say that's worth being a prize in a raffle if it's kind of a celebrity, maybe paizo staff or a celebrity like Will Wheaton or Vin Diesel (I know they play D&D, not sure about Pathfinder). That kind of game could be held as the final event of some big convention.

I'd always like some special boons, so that would of course be a good idea. Depending on the size of the convention, maybe it's even possible for the winner of such a raffle to work with paizo staff to create a truly unique boon for one of his characters. (I know I'd like that kind of special honor.)

Yes you can ;-)

Okay, those are pretty clever. The only ones I have seen previously only work when combined with a specific mini rider.

I've seen those. They're quite nice. They make all sorts of things to aid the look or functionality such as mounts or flying. Sure, anyone can use the clear dice box for flying, but this allows easier placement/removal of a mini below it. Maybe something like this added to the list?

Maybe something like a PFS GM kit. ($20-$50 value)

The problem is most dedicated GMs have everything they need, so more crap for them to carry/store will not be a motivator. For two U-Cons I gave away plaster dungeon dressing to my GM volunteers, but I've never seen any of it used in an actual game--sadly not even my own. The incidental GMs aren't motivated by game props b/c they play way more often than they GM. Everyone has different likes/dislikes when it comes to boons, but unless the convention organizer wants to put down hard cash on Paizo gift certificates, exclusive boons are your best bet.

Personally I am motivated by coffee.

I concur on the opportunity to play a character at a table run by some celebrity GM. Someone from Paizo. Or Doug.

Whenever I see that last line from people I wish I could get them into my store. Especially when they are people as auspicious as DougDoug.

Speaking to Bob: I can never have enough maps or minis. Flip-maps of generic outdoor locations are like gold. Minis that are cool and unique always find use.

Also, gift certificates to the dealer room would likely go over really well with me, as I could give them to my wife to go spend.

Or food. Gift certificates to restaurants would be most excellent.

I'll second the coffee gift basket idea.

Paizo Gift certificates are great. In $4 increments, that enables your GMs to buy more PFS adventures to continue GMng elsewhere.

For me, I always get annoyed having to pay my $4 to GM for others (which is stupid of me, because I happily spend $20 of my own on maps, printing, handouts, etc.).

Plus, Paizo gift certificates can also be used to buy PDFs of other items, or really anything someone might want from a store.

I think the best thing might be to create some unique token/shirt/medallion/item to give out for your event. It gives the GMs something cool to show off and marks them as contributors. I've seen GMs in my area (SF-Bay Area) really happy with unique metal medallions from major events. Plus it is great advertising for your event (if they display those items in other gaming venues).

Personally, anyway you can publicly acknowledge the contributions of GMs and organizers is great - it sends the message the their help is appreciated and reminds the player base to, well, appreciate those contributors (and maybe contribute a bit more themselves).

Those Tokens are pretty awesome.

I would second the paizo gift card that gives a lot of options and Paizo is always adding more stuff. Food is always good but you should keep in mind people might have dietary issues (I have to keep away from sweets myself). I am also a sucker for those tokens.

If you have some spares, the custom grand lodge d6 is also a really cool reward!

Some day I'll swing through Colorado for some PFS. Oh, and after doing it at least 20 times (officially recorded), sitting at Doug's table isn't much of a reward! ;-)

Oddly I was just thinking the same...

Back on topic...

Here locally, except for me, Awards for GMs that help them as GMs never really go over well. Most of our GMs would prefer awards that help them as players.

Funny my wife bought me the same thing and they're still in the bags unused....7 years later.

I think of myself as the lesser evil when it comes to choosing your GM.

Sovereign Court 4/5

I was going through a recent raffle he had here and remembered one more thing for the list:

Pathfinder Tales novels.

Granted, some love 'em, some hate 'em, some are ambivalent, but it's worth a mention.

Dark Archive 4/5 5/5 ****

I'd have to second (third, fourth, ?) the idea of Paizo.com store credit. Would be a great help towards buying scenarios (around here it is up to the GMs to get their own scenarios, though some organizers and V-O's will buy them for you... or sometimes let you borrow their print copies).

Even if we (as GMs) don't use the gift certificates on scenarios, we are using them for other Paizo goodies. That's something that will ALWAYS get used!

Alternatively, being offered store credit at the FLGS would also be good.

Things that the GM isn't likely to already have are best IMO. If it were possible, some flip-mats that are no longer in print. Or things like those horse mounts, invisible characters, and such. Gamicon does raffles for prints of Pathfinder art - those are pretty cool. Knowing that the local GMs didn't have them I got combat pads for the GMs at our most recent con - that seems to be one of those useful items that many people don't pick up when they could get the latest book instead.

My vote is for GM accessories. Specifically Maps & PF Battles miniatures. I used to have plenty of time to paint my own minis, but that is no longer the case.

What every GM wants: Gift cards to Office Depot/ Staples.

Sczarni

You can never go wrong with Paizo.com gift cards or gift cards for local gaming stores for the smaller cons and gaming events. For some of the larger conventions, the idea of playing at a table with Weaton or Paizo higher ups would sound really cool (4 hours of picking their minds while playing PFS definately sounds cool). Getting to play or have access to special rare encounters or ultra rare miniatures as a reward would sound cool as well.

I wouldn't mind any run of the mill plastic miniatures, maps, game books, AP materials, etc. I am relatively new to the gaming world of table top RPG and GMing games so anything would help in building up my library.
