Question about Mnemonic Enhancer

Rules Questions

My question is as follows: What does it mean by "additional levels of spells"?.
1) Is it one 3rd level spell, one 1st and one 2nd, or three 1st only?
2) Can it be used to bootstrap a slot (maximized fireball[6th level] = 3rd level slot + 3 extra levels from mnemonic enhancer / quickened wish [13th level] = universalist [-1 adjust] + mnemonic [3 extra levels] + 9th level slot)?
3) Can it be used to prepare slots for other classes (mnemonic +3 levels of cleric spells)?
Thanks for the input.

The first is correct, the other two are not.

Basically this lets you trade a 4th level slot out so you can some other spell or spells that you need. Its handy for wizards because you never know what might come up. The tradeoff beingthat you are trading down from a 4th to a 3rd (or a 2 and a 1 or three 1s). But that is the price for the flexibility of the spell.

1. Any combination that adds up to three.
2. No.
3. No.

It gives you standard wizard spell slots. That's it.

Just to clarify, if I had a cleric 1 wizard 7, I could NOT mnemonic for 3 extra cures?

You can only use your spell slots for one class for the spells of another class when specifically allowed to do so - see Mystic Theurge prestige class for examples.
