From Russia with Love

Pathfinder Society

So after watching Rise of the Guardians with my 2 year old daughter, I have found i can do a fairly decent Russian accent. If you have not seen the movie I highly reccoment it! Santa is by far my favorite with out giving any spoilers away.

So. In PFS what area of the world would most resemble Russia or atleast if i did a Russian accent for him it would not be to odd? My lore skills are fairly weak and was hoping for some help.

Then as far as characters I was thinking a big burly monk who like to "hug" the big bad guys. Tattoes and all that, again see the movie to get the full idea.

Side note: I know Santa in the Movie had a preference for 2 sabers, I could do a duel weilding Saw tooth saber build, but i kinda want a monk for PFS.

Thanks in advance.

Dang, the title made it sound like you were going to be posting about the adventures of a Taldan secret agent...

As for the Russian connection, off the top of my head, take a look at Irrisen.

The most "Russian" area would be the nation of Brevoy, up in the Northeast corner of Avistan.

There's actually a Figher archetype and a Prestige class (both called Aldori Swordlord, I believe) that specialize in using the Aldori Dueling Sword, which is from that region.

Irisien. Its covered in snow year round and they even have Babba Yagga.

The same Babba Yagga.

The same Babba Yagga.

The whole "always winter and ruled by an evil witch" thing sounds more like Narnia than Russia to me.

Babba Yaga... very Russian.

The difference being?

thank you for all the responses

I think it is Baba Yaga, rather than any variant spellings.

Depending on Russian flavor, Land of the Linnorm Kings, right next door to Irrisen, always sounded sort of Cosacky to me. Nomad barbarians, riding horses...

Ustalav sounds baltic to me, but that might be the Ukraine. Close to Russia.

In Russia you need to drink a lot of Vodka before you start seeing centaurs and talking animals?

Dark Archive

My play group has decided that Cheliax has a western european/russian accent.

I always think of Ustalav as Transylvania - the version from cheesy early Dracula movies, not the real place.

I always picture whatever that little section of Ravenloft is that Strahd ruled.

So basically the exact same thing you just said. ;)

How anyone can manage to drawl a language as precise as Infernal is truly beyond my comprehension.

I'm reminded of the French class I took at Georgia Tech. Hearing a bunch of southern belles speaking French with a southern accent, especially after my high school teachers had emphasized proper pronunciation, was just hilarious to me.

For some reason, those accents both sound really attractive (assuming you mean Southern Belle and not Just Southern). But the combination... I wonder if two rights might make a wrong here?

My Paladin of Abadar ("Ab'dar") has a good ol' boy Southern drawl. But he's from Absalom.
