Hey there,
New to all of this. Currently a lvl 7 Cleric in my first game, and contemplating what I should reroll if i die (which is likely, im using a bunch of hero-points just staying alive thus far!).
I've been looking at a lot of nice classes and prestige classes, and there are some specific combos I have taken a keen eye to. Specifically, im in love with the idea of a reach/polearm Fighter that can deny terrain and dish out pain while staying at a sort-of safe position.
However, I want my character to be mobile. I want to be able to zip around to exactly where im doing the most damage, and be able to deny ground for anyone trying to get to our casters. And all of that ties in nicely with being able to stay out of enemy reach.
Here's the idea:
-Elf
-Fighter (Mobile Figher archetype, http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/fighter/archetypes/paizo---fig hter-archetypes/mobile-fighter)
-2 lvl dip in Brightness Seeker to gain access to permanent flight, http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/prestige-classes/other-paizo/a-b/brightness -seeker
-Use of reach weapons, flying feats and area-denial feats (ex: combat reflexes)
Brightness seeker is not a martial class, but its requirements are very lax, and it gives permanent access to flight for only 1 hour of meditation each day, which I could even swap out for scent or something if im in a cramped space. It also gives +10 resistance to fear, which is nice.
I am going to pick some feats to make the combat style useful, such as Acrobatic, Flyby Attack and perhaps Hover (though I think I can get enough fly skill to auto-pass the check, so might not).
With a reach weapon, I can hover above an enemy and stab them repeatedly (without them getting to me, as im 10 feet away upwards), and, if needed be, glide to the aid of my allies.
It seems like the Mobile Fighter archetype synergises well with a flying fighter, if you look at the perks with open eyes.
-I get resistance to movement-denying effects, only loosing bravery (which doesnt matter, since I have +10 fear resistance anyway)
-Leaping Attack is easy to qualify for with flying
-Rapid Attack seems to imply I can do a weak flyby-attack without the feat. Nice!
-And, most importantly, the archetype doesnt make me lose Armour Training 2, which stresses that the "fighter can move at this normal speed while wearing heavy armour". This should mean that im not hindered in flying from wearing heavy gear.
Other good feats to get would be Mobility, Combat Patrol, Death From Above, Pin Down.
So, to sum up my goals:
-Being able to fight from beyond normal melee reach by hovering above an enemy (also, higher ground bonus)
-Being a mobile force that can easily deny area or defend allies anywhere needed, even damaging enemies as he repositions
-Picking feats such as Iron Will, Acrobatic, Flyby Attack, Hover, Combat Reflexes, Mobility, Combat Patrol etc. to complement the fighting style
-And, of course, being a badass flying elf. Perma-flight opens up so many options, both in dungeons and in OOC-situations.
Will this work? Am I interpreting the rules correctly?

For the most part sure (although I would avoid flyby attack, full-attacks are key) Just know that you won't be able to attack any enemy that also has reach while staying out of their threatened area and your GM might reasonably limit the number of "ground squares" that you threaten while you are hovering.
Flight is handy, and if that is the concept, for for it. I think that Flyby Attack, Death from Above and Hover are unnecessary altogether.
The general goal of a reach fighter is to have lots of AoOs (combat reflexes) and to use their reach to hamper foes. In light of this, trip feats, Stand Still, Pin Down etc can be really nice.
Combat Patrol is deceptive... it isn't bad per se, but you have to trade your whole round to use it, which is often counter-productive. It is a very situational ability.
I would take a look at Lunge. This can really help you get full-attacks more consistently.

Lord_Malkov: Thanks for your very good advice :) Lunge is definitely a great feat that ill look into. :)
EsperMagic: Well, Strix are too evil for me, and the Aasimar one is poor flight, if I understand correctly. Plus, my DM doesnt like advanced classes, I think, and Im going to have to be nice to him to make this work ;)
Titania: You arrogant magic-user!

Note: there is another class that can give you flight, the Sylph. Power -wise, it's on par with regular races, has the same stat boosts as an elf, and needs a couple of feats to fly. There's also a feat that allows you to never need to breathe again.
Edit: I know the Sylph is an advanced race, but I like it quite a lot. It's of a similar stat disctribution as the core and has some nice feats to go with it.
