Black Sheep Trait / Knowledge Local

I'm looking at the Black Sheep trait for RoTR and it states: "You gain a +1 trait bonus on Knowledge (local) checks, and Knowledge (local) is a class skill for you."

I have a Ranger who took this and does not have any points in Knowledge Local. Does this now mean that he is considered trained in Knowledge Local even though he hasn't actually invested a rank into it?

no, not considered trained til you actually take that 1st rank... (well, except for the rare case where your knowledge local and favored enemy intersect... then you could)

No. Trained is trained, and you're not trained. You do get the trait bonus though.
