Divine Bond - Does the weapon enchantment can be used?

Rules Questions

Hello!

Would like to ask a question about paladin's Divine Bond.

When adding special ability to the weapon, am I limited to use only enchantment's divine bond?

For example I've got magic sword +2 and I'm using divine bond with +3 enchantment bond having +5 total. Want to add some special ability, for example +4 brilliant energy.

Can I add this having total +5 enchantment bonus or am I limited to enchantment of divine bond (which is +3) when adding special ability? I know that pure enchantments stack but I'm not sure if I can draw from sword's enchantment in this matter

Assuming a level 11 paladin (for the +3 enhancement), i'd say you're limited to up to +3 abilities. You are "calling upon the aid of a celestial spirit for 1 minute per paladin level", it doesn't alter the already existing properties of your weapon, it only adds to them.

The bonus from divine bond can be applied as either straight numerical enhancement bonus or can be used to apply weapon special abilities bane or brilliant energy, but it requires you to have a bonus from divine bond at least equal to normal numerical equivalent value for the ability. For example, as a paladin with +3 enhancement bonus provided by the divine bond you could apply the speed quality to your weapon. You could instead apply the Holy ability along with Bane (which totals up to 3) or you could do +1 and Holy, or +2 Bane added to your weapon. Your weapon must always have at least a +1 enhancement bonus before applying special abilities, this still applies with Divine Bond. If you had a non-magical weapon and used your divine bond with it, you would need to apply a +1 before you could apply Holy or Bane or any other quality.

Since you have a +2 weapon and +3 bonus from Divine Bond you could make it a +5, or a +2 and any special abilities such that the total does not exceed that +5 equivalent. So you could have a +3 Holy weapon by using your Divine Bond.

I understand now. Very thank you both of you, guys! Your explanation was very clearly!
