A question regarding Witches and their spells.
Gilbrok the tongue was captured alive and has been slapped in Shackles of compliance by my parties Witch, his familiar was also captured and charmed.
The Witch has been doing unspeakable things to every magic user they captured or killed to gain new spells.
Having captured Gilbrok she wants all his spells, his listing details all the spells he had prepared, but not any he wasn't using.
The Witches player is arguing that Gilbrok should have more spells, which is a valid point, the other magic user NPC's all had unprepared spells in their listings.
Is there anything about Witches drawing their magic from their Familiar that would prevent this?

Looking at the stat block as you say he has all his spells listed that he would be able to cast, and as you know the witch can have any number of spells.
Honestly without it written down you would have no way of knowing if he knew any more or what he knew. You as the GM would have to make the call I guess and assign the spells you feel he may have.
Personally to save all the hard work I would just say that's it, that's all he knows.
As for the familar learning from a familair, it looks like a long process, 1 hour per level of the spell as im sure you know.
The bigger issues are would the witches familar would be willing to do give the information over and how long it would remain alive, also how long would charm last and if it's charmed does it lose the link with its master and the spells it has?
In all honesty...I have no idea.

I think this player has some valid and intelligent questions. IMO, you should troll through all the published witch spells, and add 1d4-1d6 to each level Gilbrok can cast. As for the time frame, this obviously well thought out and well played character, probably knows a lot of these spells already. So she should have plenty of time to transfer spells while her lesser (expendable) crew pilot the ship between ports.
You sound like a very thorough GM, i'm sure anything you add will be appreciated by this player.

@Simon Hacker.
The Witch had prior information regarding Harrigan's 'Pet witch' and made sure everyone in her crew knew to take him alive (or else!).
Gilbrok's familiar was taken with a 'Charm Monster' while Gilbrok, after being subdued and placed in the shackles has been dominated into obedience.
The only question is how many extra spells he has stored in his familiar?
I was going to be flexible as the player has played his character extremely well, but recent blatant hints are lessening my good will.:)

The familiar is like a spellbook do it could be infinite. My guess would be to just add random spells per level as the above poster has said. I can't see anything anywhere to say there is any kind of limit. If the player is doing a good job carry on and just let things carry on as they are. If you think meta gaming is creeping in just make subtle changes to the ap to keep him on his toes, move rooms, areas or just stick different encounters in different rooms. I can't see it makes much difference what you do now anyway as they are nearly finished :)

The above poster has a personal interest in the matter, that was the blatant hint I mentioned.:)
But yes, I'd pretty much decided to give a few random spells, every other spell caster has had extra spells listed.
