Champion of Irori Upcoming

Advice

Alright, so I just found out the game store near me is going to be starting a Wrath of the Righteous AP....which means it's time for a new build. Now, ever since seeing the PrC, I've wanted to play a Champion, so here I am. I've read the Guide, and looked at a number builds...I'm just having some trouble figuring out how to go about it. Here are the elements I'm looking at.

Monk: Master of Many Styles, Monk of the Sacred Mountain, possibly Flowing Monk
Paladin: Hospitaler
Cleric: Crusader

So I'm looking at making him fairly defensive, but also rocking at least decent damage. Feat chains...

Crane Wing tree
Osyluth Guile
Eldritch Heritage
Combat Reflexes + Vicious Stomp

Now then my problems are that I've always rolled stats, and never done point buy. We're being given 25 pt's. I'd like to ramp up Crane Style as soon as I can, but I'm not sure how to balance the levels of the different classes to keep me effective throughout the levels. Anyone with more experience able to give me some insight? I'm looking at either going Aasimar for the whole "Vengeful Angel" schtick, or going human for earlier ramp up. What say you?

So a strength build then? Dumping wis (ish) and flurry of blows? Or a Dex build of the same? You won't be as defensive as someone who went with wisdom and dex, I'll say in advance.

I've been picking away at some builds for the Worldwound AP - one for each path trait. I've got a half-elven CoI for the trickster path. I gave up the skill focus for dual-minded; I just don't see where there'd be room for eldritch heritage feats. As it is, Multitalented Mastery is coming very late.

Dual Minded Half Elf Hospitalier 4 / Ninja 2 / Monk of the Sacred Mountain 4 / Champion of Irori 10
(I believe the AP is a 20 point buy, yes?)
S:14 D:16 C:14 I:12 W:8 C:14
P2 / N2 / M3 / CoI2 / P+2 / M+1 / CoI+8

1: Fey Foundling
3: Power Attack
4: NT: Combat Reflexes
5: M: Dodge
5: Crane Style
6: M: Combat Expertise
7: Crane Wing
9: Osyluth Guile
11: Crane Riposte
13: Greater Mercy
15: Multitalented Mastery

Use a Sansetsukon until unarmed damage can match it, then switch to a Defending weapon (that isn't actually used to attack with). A defending ten-ring sword might be a good idea to get the extra ring slot.

This Guide will help you if you haven't already read it. Human and Aasimar are probably the best races, Aasimar reduces MAD and human gives a bonus feat.

No go, per the FAQ, you can't just be holding a defending weapon, you have to actually use it to attack to get the defense bonus.

Not really sure I agree with it, but thems the official FAQ stance of Devs.

I didn't know that. Kinda lame that it can't help you on a round where you go total defence or simply can't attack for whatever reason. Still, if you just use the defending weapon for your last flurry attack, it seems to me that it should still work.

Yep, it will work then.

Or if you make an attack of Opportunity with it, suddenly it starts working.
