Is there anything (other than GM fiat) that would prevent an animal companion, familiar, mount, eidolon, or cohort from ascending along with the PCs? I'd feel a little awkward if Mr. Ed dealt the killing blow to the source of power, then Wilber gets all the credit.
I've also seen some talk of companions being "incredibly useless" in mythic play. Would this be a way to solve that, or is the possibility too overpowered? What if companions had tier limits and restricted paths based on type?

I allowed a cohort to get it recently... after consistently out performing 2 other Pcs and dealing the final blow to a mythic enemy. So far it's ridiculous yes, but makes sense imo. Though the mythic paladin duo does haunt my dreams...
So a paladin's mount...Cool! How did you rule it? I'm looking for ideas so other players' friends aren't left in the dust.
Keep me updated! I'd love to hear more "play-test" information on the idea!

We got our first mythic tier last session. We knew it was coming as the GM had told us to come prepared with updated character sheets.
This subject is of particular interest and internal debate to me. My character is a summoner who also has a cohort.
In regular play I'm sure lots of folks will say "you don't need mythic with your action economy" or something similar.
But we have not fought mythic opponents enough to know if that's true or not. We know we fought 2 mythic wolves and maybe a mythic druid, but since I'm not sure if mythic opponents will appear as just bosses or as regular opponents, I'm not sure if my cohort and eidolon will fair better or worse.
Part of our issue, at least in my opinion, is that our party has evolved into its current form of all casters. Our fighters, rangers, barbarians have all died or abandoned us and been replaced with spell casters. The druid's animal companion is the only other "tank" we have besides the eidolon.
I asked the GM if I should/could also give my cohort a mythic tier. He said yes, as long as the level adjustment was taken into account. I'm not entirely how we are gonna do that since a tier is worth half a level. Does that mean I have to trade in my next level for 2 tiers? The PC's only have 1 tier so that doesn't make sense.
Yes, there are mythic feats for companions, but compared to a tier I'm not sure they are a good investment. That may depend on their master's mythic path. For my summoner the best choice seems to be guardian, but my summoner is not built for melee combat so I didn't take the guardian path, wild arcana is too good to pass up.
Maybe a simple mythic template would work for eidolons and animals companions, but the game was playtested without that so what will it do? I'm not sure anyone knows yet.
