It seems odd to be doing a kickstarter when you haven't fulfilled all your other past kickstarters. What makes this time different?
Its not odd at all, and is no different than what we have done in the past. We have a long history of doing multiple crowdfunded projects at the same time, the only company that has a better track record with Crowdfunding than Rite Publishing is Kobold Press.
Here is a short list of crowdfunded projects that have been fullfilled
Heroes of the Jade Oath: Fullfilled
A Witch's Choice: Fullfiled
To Kill or Not to Kill: Fullfiled
Race for the Crystal Fold Fullfiled
Litorians: Fullfiled
Coliseum Morpheuon: Fullfiled
Curse of the Golden Spear Trilogy Fullfiled
The Breaking of Fostor Nagar: Fullfilled
The Demolished Ones : Fullfilled
Lords of Gossamer and Shadow Fullfilled
This works because no one from an ongoing project is working on the same project. For example Kaidan's author Jonathan McAnulty is not writing for Adventure Quarterly, Kaidan has its own cartographer, layout artist, artists, and editor who don't work on adventure quarterly.
Plus with Adventure Quarterly all I am funding is new cartography at this point, the people who were working on Adventure Quarterly were doing all this without Kickstarter but I think I can reach more people, get more of the $ directly (loosing only 10% vs. 35%)
Issue #5 is already written, we already have a cover, its in editing,
I hope that helps.

Well it looks like Rite has done 4 Kickstarters. The 2 that promise dates have come are done and then there are 2 that haven't been reached yet. So I think things are getting fulfilled pretty well.
Rite has done significantly more than 4 (as you can see by their reply). For a while they used indiegogo rather than kickstarter as their crowd sourcing method.

This is true, though I didn't know about it until recently. That is entirely my own fault though.

That is quite the bold claim. . . I guess it depends on what you consider "better".

And which one are you working on?

It does indeed. And thank you for responding. :)

And which one are you working on?
As an author I am working on the Questhaven Campaign Setting, our default standard western medieval fantasy campaign setting, some of it has been published in bits and pieces already (I do previews in the Pathways E-zine). Right now I am hip deep in the 16+ churches (and the 4 pieces of game mechanics for each church). When I finish one my patrons get an update of the raw text before editing.
Yes, what Ashendari said (thanks Frank).
And thank you for responding. :)
Your quite welcome.
Its one of the big things that some folks don't understand about Kickstarters, customer service is as important as creating a great product, and that both of those are more important that hitting your goals.

Cool. I look forward to checking it out when you're done with it.

I'd go so far as to say it is one of the big things some folks don't understand about sales in general but I could rant about this for days.

Greg A. Vaughan will be joining the Adventure Quarterly Kickstarter (Oct 18th) as a guest author.
Greg has had a cover-credit adventure in each of Paizo's thirteen Adventure Paths, an honor he alone holds. He is the Creative Director for Frog God Games and was the lead designer of The Slumbering Tsar. Greg is also a member of the WereCabbages creative guild. He also has past credits for Wizards of the Coast and a slew of articles and adventures in both Dungeon and Dragon magazines.
Lets just say I am fanboy geek happy.

Adventure Quarterly bonus Add Ons right now back this project at the $10 (or higher) level and besides getting Adventure Quarterly #5 you also get two bonus adventures: Five Room Dungeon: The Rabbit Hole and The Living Airship
Come on over and join us HERE!

Rite Publishing |

Adventure Quarterly Kickstarter: we have passed our previous bonus stretch goal so if you back the project for $10 or More: get the following PDF adventures; Adventure Quarterly #5, Infernal Romance at Moon Temple (PFRPG), The Breaking of Forstor Nagar (PFRPG), Five Room Dungeon: The Rabbit Hole (PFRPG) and The Living Airship (PFRPG) (That's a savings of over $30.00).
We will add Coliseum Morpheuon if we hit our next stretch goal.
We are 171% to goal, 21% to our next stretch goal, with 65 backers, $5,131 pledged of $3,000 goal, 14 days to go

Adventure Quarterly Kickstarter: Do you know what the reviewer Endzeitgeist said about us?
"Adventure Quarterly is THE spiritual successor to Dungeon Magazine, delivering awesome adventures of all genres and levels by some of the best freelancers and authors out there while often treading new paths in both themes and design-decisions."
Now that's high praise, snoopy happy dance :)
We are 174% to goal (27% toward our current stretch goal) 68 backers, $5,237 pledged of $3,000 goal, 11 days to go.

To look at what you get from one perspective:
$50 for issues 1-8 (four current, four upcoming). 3 adventures per issue (I think that's right), covering three different level ranges.
That's 24 multi-level adventures for $50. Which doesn't factor in the multitude of other stuff in each issue.
I think it's $30 for issues 1-4, so you can do the math for a smaller cost.
Plus they've added a couple more pdfs into the mix at minimal cost, which ups the adventure count.
This is a pretty impressive value.

The Adventure Quarterly Kickstarter ends Friday Nov 15, 10:00pm EST.
We are 225% to goal (15% toward our 3rd stretch goal).
If you back for at least $10.00 you get Adventure Quarterly #5, Coliseum Morpheuon , Infernal Romance at Moon Temple, The Breaking of Forstor Nagar, Five Room Dungeon: The Rabbit Hole, The Living Airship, Ruined Gate, and Ruined Guardhouse. (Normally $65.42, that's a 84% discount that is only good for 5 more days).
So just to go beyond Doug's math. If you only spend $10.00, you get 8 adventures
If we hit our stretch goal we will add yet another adventure to the bonus bundle (The Gift).

Say, Rite folks. Your submission guidelines mention that you're only looking for long adventures. That's perfectly understandable. That said... back in the day, Dungeon magazine used to have a feature called "Critical Threat". It was a fully fleshed out NPC antagonist... not just a build and equipment, but history, motivations, tactics and plot hooks. Is that something you would ever consider?
cheers,
Doug M.

Yeah we have a space for pitches like that (there are two short articles), but for right now those small articles one is done by Creighton Broadhurst and the other is going to be done by a special guest.
Creighton who? What's that guy done?
Several mouse clicks later.
Oh, yeah, that should work out well for you.
:-)

Just so you are aware there are only 3 days left to join as we are done this Friday at 10pm EST.
We are 230% to goal. If you liked dungeon magazine you should check this out.
Oh and for those who don't want to go searching :)
