Haramaki... Armored Kilt?

Pathfinder Society

Okay, I am pretty sure the Armored Kilt is not PFS legal, right?
I was talking to someone about that, and he said he used a Haramaki instead.

On the face of it, that is not unreasonable. Until I realized he was saying he used it just like the armored kilt, including stacking it on top of other armors.

That is not right, is it? Is there any PFS legal armor additive item (wear it plus a base armor, to increase armor bonus to AC)?

Liberty's Edge

Nothing in the entry indicates that it works as an additive item. It appears to simply be a set of light armor.

There is nothing in the description text for Haramaki armor that suggests it adds to other armors.

No, the Haramaki does not stack with any armors. The benefit of wearing a Haramaki, by itself, is the no Armor Check Penalties and no restriction to Max Dex bonus. The ONLY reason to wear it in addition with any other type of armor would be for "flavor/rp" purposes.

In that case you would treat your main armor as the armor being worn with all its stats and the Haramaki would only be for descriptive flavor and the only thing you WOULD count in regards to it is the additional weight of wearing it.

Hopefully this answers all your questions and clears up any possibility of someone trying to cheat their AC and armor stats by stacking a Haramaki with some other type of armor.

3 people marked this as a favorite.

But I'm wearing a Chain Shirt beneath my Full Plate! Don't I get bonuses for that?

Why, yes, yes you do. You get the "encumbered" bonus! And that does stack! Congratulations.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Okay, so I was right in that Armored Kilt is PFS illegal, and also right in that Haramaki is not additive as the Armored Kilt is.

Now, are there any PFS legal additive armors, something like the Armored Kilt?

No.

No. If they wanted the mechanic in they wouldn't have banned the armored kilt.

Not to mention the subsequent arguments over whether the kilt could be enchanted separately or how you price a kilt + armor made of special materials. I think I approve of the banhammer in this case.
