i made a paladin with a 7 intellect stat which means -2 modifier when i lvl it from level 1 to lvl 2 on hero lab it gives me 2 skill points to use as i see fit but my loval venture capatain says that because its -2 modifier i dont get any skill ranks at all =? i read on a pally guide that i still get the two points and when i bring his modifer to +0 it gives me 4 instead of 2? am i correct or is he? im a human pally lvl 2

The number of skill points gained each level, though your character always gets at least 1 skill point per level.
then you have the favorite class bonus of +1 skill point for a grand total of 2
You always get at least 1 skill point per lv, no matter what. This is determined before adding any other bonuses like race or favored class. Then you get another skill point per lv for being human (unless you traded that racial). And finally, you have your favored class bonus, which can get you another 1 hp or skill point per lv.
