Me and my wife are really enjoying Pathfinder. However, can someone clarify the rules on recharging?
IE:
What can we recharge?
If a card says nothing about recharging on it, can we recharge it at the end of our turn to get our hand limit down, or do we have to discard something?
If a card says Recharge: None, does that mean no recharging, or does it mean you can recharge it for free?
Thanks in advance !! :)

I'm a bit tired, so excuse me if I get a little confused on your question...but....here is what I think you are asking about.
Recharging is when you place a card from your hand back into your desk, to be drawn again in the future). You can recharge cards using skills that they say on that card...or using powers that your character might have. For example, Sajan can automatically recharge a blessing that he uses in his combat.
You can't really just randomly recharge a card. It happens as part of playing that card.
Nothing written about recharging or saying none means no recharging it. It goes into your discard pile.
When you have more cards in your hand than your hand limit you have to discard down to your hand limit as part of resetting your hand (at the end of your turn). So, you can discard a not as useful card then. But, no discarding just because you don't want something. It is in your hand until used or when your hand is to big.

Also, does Harsk's power to add 1d4 to another location if you recharge a card mean you can just recharge anything from your hand with no questions asked? OR does it have to be an item that can be recharged, and you have to meet the criteria on the card?
Harsk's power is that he can recharge a card to add to a check at another location. It does not list a restriction to the type of card. So, just recharge a card that is in his hand. Realize you cannot replace that card with a new one until after your next turn (when next you get to the reset your hand phase.) So, don't recharge something you might actually want the next turn.

Choose and recharge any card you want for his ability.

Actually, while resetting your hand you are allowed to discard any cards you wish, and draw new ones.
Rulebook p9: Reset Your Hand: You may discard any number of cards from your hand. If you have more cards in your hand than the hand size listed on your character card, you must discard cards until the number of cards in your hand matches your hand size. Finally, if you have fewer cards than your hand size, you must draw cards until the number of cards in your hand matches your hand size.

Thank you. I stand corrected. That's what I get for being on here with only three hours sleep.
But, to clarify for the original question, this is at the reset your hand phase and is not just in the middle of your turn. Realize too that by discarding cards (as opposed to recharging) you are in effect making your character closer to death.

Exactly, Ogee. And often those discards turn out to be the cards you need 2 turns later... Murphy's Law of PACG ;)

Hi guys. I just registered in these messageboards to clarify recharging.
After reading this thread, I still have this question that Darkbird posted:
If a card says Recharge: None, does that mean no recharging, or does it mean you can recharge it for free?
what does "RECHARGE: None" mean?
Does it mean that after playing (activating the powers of) the card there is NO WAY of recharging it?or does it mean that there are NO REQUIREMENTS to recharge it after playing it?
thanks!

Hi Guys,
I had this discussion at Board Game Geek as recharging was really tripping me up too. The gang said the Official FAQ was actually updated...
===
I have a power that lets me discard a card to trigger an effect. If I discard a spell, can I recharge it?
You may only recharge cards that you play; playing involves triggering an effect on that card, not on some other card.
Resolution: On page 10 of the rulebook, under "Playing Cards," change the following:
"Playing a card means activating a card's power by revealing, displaying, discarding, recharging, burying, or banishing the card."
to
"Playing a card means activating that card's power by revealing, displaying, discarding, recharging, burying, or banishing that card. Doing something with a card that does not activate that card's power does not count as playing that card. For example, if Kyra discards a spell to activate her healing power, it doesn't count as playing that spell (meaning she also can't recharge it)."
===
So Seoni can't just grab a spell to get her arcane die and then get an auto recharge on that spell discard. Just like Kyra can't do the same on her healing power.
Hope that helps.

There are two Seoni powers that we may be crossing streams on!
If Seoni discards a card to use her blast power (discard a card for combat roll of Arcane + 1d6) then that card cannot be recharged under any circumstance.
Seoni's other power lets her auto-succeed a recharge check on any Arcance spell ([ ] or item). But if she has a boon without a recharge power on it then she cannot recharge it since there's no recharge 'check' to auto-pass.

@ScribblingRambler - if a card says "Recharge: None" then Seoni CANNOT recharge it. Her power allows you to automatically succeed any 'check to recharge'. If there's no check then there's nothing for her to succeed at and the card cannot be recharged.
Fair enough, H4p.
That's what I get when I answer without looking at the character card ;)
