Non-Spellcasting Paladin

Advice

I'm a big fan of Kobold Press' Spell-less Ranger, and Super Genius Game's spell-less Inquisitor, the Justicar. How would you build a Paladin without spells?

Alternately, the Paladin as a prestige class. How would this be condensed into a 10 level class?

You might take a look at the "Warrior of the Holy Light" archetype Paizo added. The paladin trades spellcasting for a couple of handy buffs powered by Lay on Hands charges. Though obviously, that's not a prestige class or built around a 10 level progression.

The Exchange

Check out Warrior of the Holy Light archetype on the PRD, might be what you are looking for, or close to it. APG Pally option.

I like it. Thanks!

3.5 Had a 'Prestige Paladin' as a 15 level PrC in 'Unearthed Arcana'.

I am sure that would be able to be adapted to a 10 level class.

As presented it could be more powerful than a standard Paladin though, since it added '+1 level of existing divine spellcasting class' and added the Paladin spell list to your existing spell list, so if you started as cleric you could get Paladin spells added to your cleric list.

It was a slow progression though, to represent the lower amount of spells Paladins got, but it could still end with more spells.

ya but it had lower BAB from starting out as a cleric so that kinda balances out

All you need is +16 or more for 4 attacks and Paladin+Cleric spells can easily make up the lost 4 BAB for accuracy puposes.

Since it has a +4 BAB prerequisite to even join, if you go all 15 levels of the original you end up with a +19 BAB. Loss of one BAB is trivial IMO.

i look at things from the perspective of level 6-12 and that would mean he would be losing out on attacks

Still only losing one BAB. Delaying your next attack one level will most likely not result in your characters death.

Most likely. :)

It's easy: build a paladin with a charisma of 10 or less ;)

I am not sure you want to do that. But if you do, let the paladin get spells starting at the first prestige level. And remember without the paladin as a base class the anti-paladin is useless.

It's easy: build a paladin with a wisdom of 10 or less ;)

PF paladins use Cha as their casting stat. And a Paladin with Cha 10 or less loses a lot more than spells.

You are right, I mixed the ranger with the paladin. sorry.

So the correct answer should be:
It's easy: build a paladin with a charisma of 10 or less ;)

You'd still need something to make up for their loss, I'd think. As to the Anti-Paladin issue, make them both PrC's or keep the AP as a full class that demands the emergence of a "true champion" (i.e., the Paladin) to combat. Make them each just a once in a generation thing. Make it epic!

You could just spend all slots on Hero's Defiance and Litany of Righteousness, and pretend that they're class features.
