I might be able to get into a Kingmaker game, so I'm working on adapting a build of mine. She's a Lore warden that specialises in polearms. Her strategy is built around high mobility and using whirlwind attack to hurt as many people as possible. She will be doing a hell of a lot of multiclassing to gain proficiency with the fauchard and heavy armor, all working towards taking the student of war PrC. So I'm looking for advice on certain things:
The best traits:
-As per her back story, I'm giving her one of the noble traits. I'm thinking Orlovsky, so I'm wondering if there are better/ more interesting families.
-Another trait. Reactionary seems mechanically best, but i'm open to other (more interesting options).
The best knowledge-based skill focus: This is to eventually gain the Student of War PrC.
Here's my stats/ first level. If the stats seem high, it's because of a weird distribution from the DM.
Human, NG
Str 18, Dex12, Con 12, Int 15, Wis 17 , Cha 9
Lore warden 1
1 Power attack, Dodge, Focused Study (Skill focus (one knowledge, to be determined) )
Any ideas?

Going with the trait that allows for a +1 to damage on a critical hit is not bad. Especially once you get proficient with the fauchard.
Along the lines of eldritch heritage if you go knowledge planes you can go down the abyssal path. The claws are pretty much meh, the electrical resistance is ok but getting a +6 to strength by 17th level is huge. Hell even the +2 that you get at level 11 is worth the feat.

Oh hoho, I've got a sweet alternative going for me: I'm multiclassing horizon walker to gain astral terrain dominance, and thus dimension door. I'll work up the dimensional feats. Though I might end up using a different build, depending on how high level kingmaker's supposed to go.
Edit: student of war could synergise well with eldritch heritage. Just not for this character.

For Kingmaker, it might be good to think of the role you might take in the political evolution of your settlement. The lore warden/student of war has great potential to be a good marshal, warden, spymaster, or treasurer. Kingmaker also has lots of wilderness exploration so you could go cavalier and actually get to take advantage of mounted combat. Cavalier (maybe with golden legionaire) with a decent cha is great for several roles including ruler, diplomat, and general. If your stats are locked in, then that isn't a good option for you.
My experience is that a build that takes into account the leadership role you will eventually take will be more satisfying than a "trick" build that can only do cool combat stuff.

I'll have to think about it. I was thinking a generalship type role (high int fighter seems to fit) but I keep forgetting cha is more important than int for that kind of role. What do marshals and wardens do? Anything that would allow the combo of martial prowess and intelligence would be cool.
Note: I found a page with the roles, and only teasurer really fits. Maybe she'll be an aggressive tax collector.
Warden could work, though I will suffer from the low dex.
General would be cool, but yeah, charisma... (no need for strategists in golarion I guess?)
Note: I guess it's one stat or the other eh? Well her high strength could make her a good general or warden. Both seem nice.

Yep, most of the roles allow one of two stats to be used, General in specific is Cha OR Str so your character as is would make a fantastic general with a +4 from Str currently, only getting better as you increase it with levels. It represents leading from the front and having your men follow you into battle by serving as a visible inspiration versus having your men dedicated to you and fighting from sheer loyalty even if you never once raise a blade beside them.

Most of the roles are "this stat or that stat" based so you have lots of options. You could be the strong, smart general and stat off str.
"I'm the general because i win battles not popularity contests. If you don't like me, that's fine, you can go and die on some fop's battlefield. If you stay on my battlefield, we are going to fight the way that gives us the best chance of coming home alive and victorious, and that means fighting smart. Now, if you need me, I'll be up at the frontline honing my blade while checking out the enemy's position."
Pop your skill focus in knowledge engineering maybe? The tough, no nonsense marshal (sheriff) fits your stats well too

If you can afford the skill points (and I suspect you can as Lore Warden) and intend going General, I'd go ahead and grab Profession: Soldier, that will certainly help and fits the role perfectly it seems.]
As for Knowledge, History perhaps? Specifically military history. For enemies in Kingmaker though, Knowledge: Nature would seem very useful imo.

Animals, plants, and fey are under nature. Humanoids are under local. Extraplanar creatures are under planes. Undead are under religion. Humanoids are under local. Miscellany are under arcana.
If your GM lets you lump alignment plane creatures under religion that's probably one of the more important ones, otherwise probably less.

For Kingmaker, make sure you're a decent archer and mounted combatant as well. You'll be doing a lot of fighting in wide open terrain.
I agree with you about a bow & mount. To a point. I would
A) get MW bow set for you STR and Cold iron and magical arrows.B) Buy a hourse, lance, and sadle. Also keep putting ranks in to ride skill. At lest 50% of the time.
She will be doing a hell of a lot of multiclassing to gain proficiency with the fauchard and heavy armor, all working towards taking the student of war PrC.
I image that you will take some Cavalier for the Heavy armor. Also look at Bard(Archivist) it may fit for 2 level (But CHA is 8).
May be wizard 1 Divener with Fore Sight School.Foresight School
Associated School: Divination.
Replacement Powers: The following school powers replace the diviner's fortune and scrying adept powers of the divination school.
Prescience (Su): At the beginning of your turn, you may, as a free action, roll a single d20. At any point before your next turn, you may use the result of this roll as the result of any d20 roll you are required to make. If you do not use the d20 result before your next turn, it is lost. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Intelligence modifier.
Feats you may want to look at Kirin Style: The school of the kirin employs critical observations as weapons against opponents. Practitioners catalogue a foe's weaknesses and seek the perfect moment to strike, ensuring that no movement or effort is ever wasted. Popular among those rare orders that blend monastic training with arcane study, kirin style is sometimes practiced by wizards who seek to hone their bodies along with their minds.
Feat Path: Kirin Style, Kirin Strike, Kirin Path.
Traits
Schooled Inquisitor: Your additional training aids in identifying the wiles of your faith's enemies. You gain a +2 trait bonus on all Knowledge (planes) and Knowledge (religion) checks made to identify the abilities and weaknesses of creatures.
Mathematical Prodigy: Mathematics has always come easily for you, and you have always been able to "see the math" in the physical and magical world. You gain a +1 bonus on Knowledge (arcana) and Knowledge (engineering) checks, and one of these skills (your choice) is always a class skill for you.
Acrobat: Having trained from a young age, you're capable of amazing feats of daring. You gain a +1 bonus on Acrobatics checks, and you take only a —2 penalty instead of the normal —5 penalty when using the Climb skill to attempt an accelerated climb.
Bruising Intellect: Your sharp intellect and rapier-like wit bruise egos. Intimidate is always a class skill for you, and you may use your Intelligence modifier when making Intimidate checks instead of your Charisma modifier.
Tireless Logic: Your curious mind figures out even the most complex problems. Once per day when you make an Intelligence-based skill check or ability check, you can roll twice and take the better result.
This list is for role play
Bastard: You were born out of wedlock. You have always been an outsider in society, and in your own family. This perspective has sharpened your insight. You gain a +1 trait bonus on Sense Motive checks, and Sense Motive is always a class skill for you.
Adopted: You were adopted and raised by someone not of your race, and raised in a society not your own. As a result, you picked up a race trait from your adoptive parents and society, and may immediately select a race trait from your adoptive parents' race.
Natural-Born Leader: You've always found yourself in positions where others look up to you as a leader, and you can distinctly remember an event from your early childhood where you led several other children to accomplish a goal that each of you individually could not. All cohorts, followers, or summoned creatures under your leadership gain a +1 morale bonus on Will saves to avoid mind-affecting effects. If you ever take the Leadership feat, you gain a +1 trait bonus to your Leadership score.
Rich Parents: You were born into a rich family, perhaps even the nobility, and even though you turned to a life of adventure, you enjoy a one-time benefit to your initial finances—your starting wealth increases to 900 gp.
Your stats are killing me...pleae for the love of all thing good about roleplaying talk GM and see if will let switch some things.
DEX of 12 mean you can not start with dodge. So take it latter.
For a smart Fighter your WIS is 17 but your INT is 15.
You need the Skill points this is skill guy.
Your weapon choise is an EWP and there in not one those in this AP. So you will have it magic one Crafted make sure there is a crafter in the party. If not drop this idea. Glave has same weapon qualities but smaller Crittcal range and smaller damage dice for no EWP.
Becase you are going to Stundent of War and multiclassing you will have less feats that a straight fighter.
Make sure you not tring to do to much plan out your feats
Dodge, modilty, Spring Attack, Combat Expertise, Power Attack, Cleave, Comabat reflexs,Whirlwind Attack*, Lunge, Wind Stance, Improved Trip, Greater Trip. This is just core rule book list to go with combat desription.
You should have a ton of skill ranks make sure you have some thing do with them. So they work for you.
Modilty fighter to me mean fast movement and tumbling. Not DEX 12 and Heavy armor. Give up on one or the other.

Yeah, the mobility will mainly come out of a multiclass into Horizon walker, (and get DIMENSION DOOR) so I'll admit it doesnt SCREAM mobility at first.
Thanks for the profusion of traits, they do seem to fit pretty well (especially bruising intellect and bastard).
I have changed some things in my build though:
Str 18, Dex14, Con 10, Int 17, Wis 15 , Cha 9
Here's a quick shot of the build:
1/ Lore warden
1 Power attack, Dodge, Skill focus (one knowledge, to be determined)
1/ Kensai
2 Combat reflexes
2/ lore warden (Combat expertise)
3 Mobility
1/ Gendarme
4 Spring attack (+1 wis)
3 4/ Lore warden
5 Endurance
6 Whirlwind attack
1 2 3/ Horizon walker
7 Lunge, Favored terrain (Astral)
8 Favored terrain (anything), Terrain mastery (astral), +1 str
9 Dimensional Agility, Terrain dominance: Astral
All/ Student of war
10
11 Dimensional Assault, Improved critical (falchion)
12 +1 int
13 Dimensional Dervish
Yes, I know the build is far from optimal. But I do find it pretty awesome (maybe I'm crazy) so I want to try it out. I'm trying to maximize the potential of an interesting build. I'll see if the GM is ready to let me juggle some stats. I might be able to switch around some of the levels though.
However, I should note I'm still not sure about some things, namely how high level we will go. If it doesnt go far enough to make this build awesome (namely level 13), I'll make another build (probably cavalier/golden legionaire)
