Sin Mage and Prestige Classes

Sovereign Court

Would a Sin Mage gain the additional 2 spell slots per level even if casting is progressed through a prestige class? Would a Sin Mage Wizard 5/Bloatmage X still gain the 2 additional spell slots for his 4th, 5th, ect level spells?

I ask because this clarification about their school powers seems to imply the archetype modifies spell casting rather than schools. So it seems to me that the prestige class would indeed grant those bonus spell slots. However, I could be wrong, so I figured I would ask.

If it is a wizard archetype it does not get the spells when it levels in a prc. Tge new spells are a function of gaining wizard levels.

Mojorat, are you arguing that a specialist wizard does not get his specialisation spell slots once he enters a prestige class? If so, does that also mean that for the spell levels gained through the prestige class he wouldn't be restricted in preparing spells from opposed/prohibited schools? And how does all that change once the wizard takes regular wizard levels again?

Are we talking about the Thassilonian specialist wizard here? It doesn't really matter, but since SRD got all crazy, I'm finding it hard to know what class/archetype some people are talking about.

Anyways, the way the bonus spell slots are worded (and intended) is based on the level of spells he can cast, not the wizard level. He'd still get the bonus spells if he was going into prestige classes.

I am talking about the Thassilonian Specialist. Also, that would be real nifty if they would maintain their bonus spells while taking prestige classes, it would make a Sin Mage/Bloatmage a fairly versatile combination.

This is my understanding as well.

You do indeed receive to two extra slots. Just be sure they are both used for the same spell.

Also, I believe it's "Xin magic", not "Sin magic", named after Xin Haruka, the Thassilonian wizard of old Azlant.

No, it's sin. Each of the schools of magic is associated with a sin by the Thassilonians.

Yes, I'm aware, but it's d20pfsrd that renamed it "Sin magic" so they could comply with copyrights.

The Thassilonians didn't consider them Sins, they considered them Virtues.

At first they did virtue magic, it was corrupted.

Well, spells known you don't gain according to a(exceedingly stupid)FAQs. Bonus spell slots from levels I would hope you still get, unless they really just hate PrCs.
