How to make one blow really hurt?

Advice

Greetings,

I'm currently playing a Fighter who has his draconic blood awaken, he begins to accept it and allowing him to be a Dragon Disciple. I know Dragon Disciple supposed to focus on natural attacks, but my fighter is a reach polearm fighter. I want him to fly around enemy and hit hard. How should I go about it?

His stats are the followings:

Fighter 4/Sorcerer 1/ Dragon Disciple 1
Str: 21(18 + 2 racial + 1 level): +5
Dex: 16 : +3
Con: 14 : +2
Int: 12 : +1
Wis: 7 : -2
Cha: 12 : +1

Thank you for the Advice.

So there is no way to make a single attack hurts then?

Use a lance two-handed and charge. Power Attack and Furious Focus are must have feats - don't bother with Vital Strike, it's too weak and feat-intensive. Your natural attacks are a great back-up weapon if something gets inside your reach.

Your build is solid save for dumping Wis - BAD MOVE! it leaves your Will saves terribly weak.

I have to second what Dabbler says. All it takes is a dominate, and you just became a major threat to your party.

Start multiclassing into barbarian and druid and emulate this gal. She is capable of dealing 310 damage automatically.

That dumped Wis has gotta be fixed, by stats or something. Improved Will is not enough. "If" vital strike worked with charges and stuff it would be perfect, but sense it don't you are going to have to increase your size and weapons size (impact), along with Str.

Power attack also suffers because your Dragon Disciple is not a full BAB class.

Two Handed Weapon Fighter would have been a better choice, I disagree about Vital Strike though - push it to the max.

With this character I would push your threat area - get lunge and combat reflexes as well as enlarge yourself - you will have numerous A.o.O. due to a 15'/20'reach.

I have low wis because of roleplay reasons, GM and I have plans for my character.

I think I can understand how two handed fighting with single hit works now. But Here is another question. If I get a large two handed weapon, will I be able to have reach? Or will I still need Lunge to have reach?

Weapons with the 'reach' property will give a medium sized character a threat range of 10' (usually 2 squares) as opposed to 5' (1 square).

The Lunge feat adds 5' to that for the cost of -2 A.C. for that round. So a character with Lunge and a reach weapon will have a threat range of 15' (usually 3 squares) around them in order to get attacks of opportunity.

Obviously the Combat Reflexes feat will give you more than 1 of these in a round.

So such a character could in theory head into the middle of the battle and be getting multiple attacks of opportunity in a zone within 15' of them - if you do a lot of damage with one hit - then this sort of tactic will crush large numbers of weak enemies quite easily. Note you cannot do a Vital Strike as an Attack of Opportunity.

Oh and if you get Enlarge cast on to you, you add another 5' to that (20' usually 4 squares) as well as increasing the damage dice of your weapon but again at the cost of -2 A.C.

This sort of tactic can make you quite formidable but also a big priority target.
