What would you say is the average dpr of a 9th level melee character?

I'm not asking for huge reams of justification, just a ball park figure based on your personal experience. If you're playing a melee focused character, what do you expect to be putting out in terms of average HP damage per round, assuming you hit most or all of the time?

An optimized level 10 fighter runs around 50-70. There is not a huge difference between level 9 and level 10 in terms of damage dealing, so I would say 50-60 DPR against an AC of 23.

Grand Lodge RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

How does that translate into attack and damage bonuses?

Here is my basic level 10 fighter build using a 15,14,13,12,10,8 stat array
Str: 24 15 initial +2 racial +1 level +4 enhancement
Dex: 14
Con: 14 13 +1 level
Int: 10
Wis: 12
Chr: 8

Relevant equipment and abilities
+3 falchion
+4 belt of strength
+2 weapon training(requires level 9)
+2 Weapon focus/Greater Weapon focus(requires level 8)
+2 Weapon Specialization(requires level 4)
Power Attack
Improved Critical(Falchion)(requires level 8)

That gives you a +21/+16 to hit for 2d4+31 damage per swing. You threat on a 15+.

Against an AC of 24, you will do an average of 62.4 damage per round without any outside buffs.

A breakdown of outcomes
3.5% chance you miss both attacks
26.6% chance you get 1 normal hit
11.4% chance you get a single crit
28.7% chance you get 2 normal hits
24.6% chance you get 1 normal hit and one crit
5.3% chance you get 2 crits

A good round(a hit and a crit) you will do about 105 damage.
A bad round(a hit and a miss) would be about 35 damage.

A level 9 character would be almost identical except for a -1 to BAB, and thus would do exactly the same damage to an AC 23 target.

Note, this is the damage that a well optimized fighter can do every round without outside assistance. A level 10 vivisectionist can do roughly twice this much damage when flanking.

Is it 12?

I'm going to probably say 12.

Wrong, the answer is always 42.

Yeah, my 50-70 number is a paraphrasing of that entire thread.

Wow. My melee focused Summoner us really way behind the curve. I use to think it was nicely done but I know better now.

Well at least I know my Eidolon is tearing tuff to shreds.

These numbers are based on the total damage done by both the character and pet. If you pet is doing 40 damage per round and you are doing 20, then you are doing 60 in total.

Maybe with a ton of buffs from the cleric, wizard, and bard, but not by yourself.
