okay i know it just does not add up. does a small druid lose size ac bounes if they take a medium size animal? does a medium size druid gain the size bounes of a small animal?

armor goes away in wild shape, see the magic section on polymorph .
only reason armor and size would matter, is if you have wild armor, and go below ... tiny? where your armor bonus halves anyway due to size. see the equipment section on armor for when smaller than normal armor counts for less in the AC department.
