Anyone have any thoughts for two new mythic paths?

I want to develop two new mythic paths for a mythic campaign setting I am developing. I need the two new paths to have some duality, even if it is a stretch. For example, archmage and hierophant is arcane and divine, guardian and champion are defense and offense or marshal and trickster are direct and indirect. The new paths should have some relation like the previous examples, even if it is a thin one.

Also if they can have some thematic relation to Air or Water that would be a bonus. I saw a post that suggested the idea of a Mystic path which I could see linking up with Air as both have a mysterious unseen quality. So something that could be thematically related to water and be a knowable visible quality could work. Not married to the idea of Mystic, it is just a thought, any other pairing that anyone can suggest would be great.

You may be looking at this backwards.

What is missing that you feel the need to fill a hole with two Paths?
Once you know what it is that's missing, it's easier to assist with ideas.

Or are you just looking for some Air & Water elemental thematic elements to add to your game and think Mythic is the way to go?

I don't have the mythic rules yet, but from what I recall of the play test, maybe you could make archetypes for existing mythic paths? Not sure exactly how this would work, but something like reducing mythic surge die size or changing the base mythic power for a path in exchange for a water/air themed ability? I dunno, just a rough idea.

Alternatively, you could just create new mythic powers that allow for water/air themed characters. That's probably what I'd do. Or do both!

I wanted to have 8 total mythic paths which would fit in with some of the settings other assumptions. Thanks for the suggestions!

Personally, I'm eagerly awaiting a psionic mythic path, so you might consider that one (if your campaign has psionics at least). A shape shifter / transformative mythic path would be neat. An anti-mythic mythic path.


Seems to me that mythic paths are supposed to be more vague than thematic and that adding water/air elements is treading a bit into class territory.

I agree that a shape shifter mythic path seems like it could work pretty well.

A pet focused mythic path maybe? Current paths could be used for this, but it seems like it could work.

Psionic of course if you run psionics.

I'd like to see the reverse of the Marshal. Instead of being all about buffing your friends, be all about demoralizing your opponents...
