Cleric of Nocticula advice

Advice

1 person marked this as a favorite.

So i am starting and evil campaign around the Cult of Nocticula, I am trying to make a Head priest of the cult Cell my role playing group will be apart of. i was thinking of make it a Drow cleric lv 7 Dominions darkness and charm but with the feat from Undfeatable cleric Dark priest. Which get rids of all your domion spells but then it gives you the Rouge abilty Sneak attack. Fighter lv 1 with cavern sniper archetype which will allow me to use my spell like abiltys on my ranged weapons i.e the hand crossbow. The reason i put thought into this NPC i am very sure the pcs and her will have to duke it out later on. if you guys can give me some feed back which is a good route to take or if the options i am going with are just plain bad please let me know.

That sounds like a bad feat, or overpowered.

3rd party?

that feat i was looking at and also the feat called Channeling Blast from the same company

Thats broken as all get out. Give the cleric who can wear armor, cast powerful spells and self heal the only decent thing a rogue gets in exchange for some domain spells.

Whoever made this up had zero idea of a thing called balance and should be flayed

I love the reactions people are giving.

And yeah, I'll check that feat when I get home.

I don't think sneak attack is very good, especially considering the multitude of ways to counter it, but that feat sounds terrible. Trading a few domain spells for Sneak Attack is in no way an equal trade. That's the staple feature for entire classes and by trading away a few possible spells that you could know you pickup the full progression? Why the hell would anyone be a Rogue? You could just be a Cleric who acts like a Rogue and has both sneak attack and full casting.

This is exactly why I don' allow third party content. Some companies/authors may be better at this sort of thing but more sources always means more possible unitended interaction between abilities and as a GM it's already enough work to curtail the ones that appear in the books published by Paizo.

Looking over it, I would rather have Channel.

I would rather have the spells. Sneak attack sucks and it doesn't matter that this build would take away the "staple" feature for an entire class. Domain spells are so much better than sneak attack it isn't even funny.

People should be asking themselves why the hell would I play a rogue even before this because lets face it, rogues suck bad in PF. Heck there are already multiple classes that get sneak attack AND do everything important better than a rogue (even traps though trap-finding IMHO is not important at all, actually the skill monkey is like tertiary in importance).

wow didn't think my post would cause and uproar.
did not mean to offend but can some one give some helpful advice on a good cleric build that would be a debuffer and battle cleric?

i was think that my NPC would fight mostly in the dark and use the spell like ability darkness with the cavern archetype to full advantage so the sneak attack just seemed to fit so well. oh instead of Charm dominion probably Trickery would be a better fit i am thinking

I think what you're looking for is the Class Guides for Cleric. Read those.

It sounds like you are looking for a Bad Touch cleric, from Tark's Big Holy Book of Cleric Optimization, which is a sort of debuffer and battle cleric. Search for "bad touch cleric pathfinder" and you will find a wealth of additional suggestions.

Also check out this one.
