Fowl Familiars?

Homebrew and House Rules

Silver Crusade

I am saddened by the lack of gamebird familiars.

At the very least chickens and peacocks should be viable options. I think peacocks should even offer a bonus to diplomacy.

Did someone say chicken familiars? ~_^
If only there were such a thing!

Other avians noted in the Animal Archive:
Dodo (PRPG AP #55 Skull & Shackles: The Wormwood Mutiny)
Hawk (Bestiary)
Osprey (as hawk)
Owl (Bestiary)
Raven (Bestiary)
Snail kite (as hawk)
Thrush (Ultimate Magic)
Toucan (as raven)

For anything other than Society play, the book Animal Archive gives options for improvising different familiars.

Seems like you could reskin the abilities of the thrush to peacocks and get your diplomacy bonus and the fluff that you want.

Chicken could be substituted in just as easily, although I would think thematically a different benefit for the chicken than diplomacy.
1 free meal comes to mind....

Evil magic users should have the option of getting a duck familiar.

dodo is cloesish, but the rest are way far off, considering that chickens are not exactly good fliers.

I play a Bladebound Magus in a friend's campaign who has a chicken for a familiar. A couple years back Kobold Press released stats for a chicken familiar. It's a rooster, and everyone gets a huge, juvenile laugh out of my character and his "cock".
