Mythic Weapon Finesse and Shield Armor check penalty

Rules Questions

So, mythic weapon finesse lets you add Dex instead of Str to Damage, but it also says this:

Quote:

If you carry a shield, its armor
check penalty doesn’t apply to either the attack rolls or the
damage rolls.

Did I miss something? Why should the shields armor check penalty apply to attack or damage roll in the first place?

As far as I know, Armor check penalty should only apply to Str- and Dex- based skills, but not to attack or damage rolls.

Here is half the answer, but I still don't know why they mentioned damage rolls:

From the CRB: Nonproficient with Armor Worn: A character who wears armor and/or uses a shield with which he is not proficient takes the armor's (and/or shield's) armor check penalty on attack rolls as well as on all Dex- and Str-based ability and skill checks. The penalty for non-proficiency with armor stacks with the penalty for shields.

Weapon Finesse (Combat)

You are trained in using your agility in melee combat, as opposed to brute strength.
Benefit: With a light weapon, rapier, whip, or spiked chain made for a creature of your size category, you may use your Dexterity modifier instead of your Strength modifier on attack rolls. If you carry a shield, its armor check penalty applies to your attack rolls.

To be honest, I'd actually forgotten about that little caveat.

Since Mythic Weapon Finesse means you can use your Dex for damage in addition to attack rolls, the ordinary rule would suggest you should apply the shield's ACP to damage as well.

That language specifically excepts the ordinary rule and its natural implication.

Special: Natural weapons are considered light weapons.

I never noticed it too, until ThatRvilGuy recently pointed it out it the thread What are some things about the Pathfinder rules that you think most people do not know?.

Ninjaed 2 times.

Oh.
Now I'm not sure anymore if I every actually read the pathfinder weapon finesse at all.^^

No worries. Lots of people didn't notice that rule back in D&D 3rd and 3.5e rules too.
