Hit / run AOO monk, how is this concept?

Advice

Hello all.

I'm guessing this build has been seen before but I haven't seen threads about it yet.

I'm curious ho the concept sounds,I know it won't be a power house or anything, but I've mainly played lower level games and the idea just sounds so fun. I'm not really gonna list out hard details since I'm just sorta toying with it for the next game (None society game), So feel free to comment on thoughts whatevers~
This build is looking to be: Hungry ghost/Master of many styles/quingong. My stats are going to go DEX WIS CON/INT (INT because of who I rolled into for the story) STR CHA. He won't be doing super damage, more like a small swarm of bee strikes (DR Will suck haha) Mighty fist with dex enhancement might help mitigate somewhat.
was thinking about looking into charging to increase the damage/effects of my actual attack. Though charging only adds so much. (well baring Jani rush combat style feat)

I'm going to pick up Panther style, Snake style for some good AOO hit backs/free hits when they miss.
I'm going to take that head stomping feat. The one that allows you to hit anything that becomes prone (to combo with punishing kick to gain AOO when they become prone and AOO when they stand up)
Possibly add: crane for the great defense, and dragon style for charging benefits/the one that gives you elemental fist maybe. (if so marid style eventually)

I'll probably be moving quite often (it'll be a while before I get multiple attacks via full round anyway) and Master of Many styles gives up the Flurry. Probably for the most part setting up doom from my allied player who in theory will whomp decently. Though, as I will eventually hit when they miss it isnt too imparitive i full attack often. (I'll rely on normal BAB for extra attacks without flurry. so, that won't be a lot or often for a while)

How does the idea of a character running around drawing attacks to hit back sound (depending on the situation adding punishing kick to knock back or make prone)? Instant death? moderate pain? amusing until the foes stop taking their AOOs?

The concept works best on come and get me barbarian.

You'll want to be a plumekith aasimar and have an agile AoMF as a first major purchase (4k gold) to get dex to damage instead of str. Remember to spend ki on defense if you need it, and invest heavily in defense to pull this off.

I honestly don't see this build working as well as you'd like. I'd actually want crane style in this sort of defensive build because +4 AC from fighting defensively with it, is -2 to attack. Crane wing is just the gravy on the boat. a CaGM barbarian does this with a rage power, and has the HP to survive it. Not sure how'll you fit so many feats as a monk

First thing, hit and run is not a good tactic in the D&D-based combat system. The only classes that make it work use Spring Attack and sneak attack to pull it off. You don't get no sneak attack.

Second, your tactic is "run through the enemy and whenever they attack me I hit them!" Which is cool, but you have several problems to overcome:

1) Hitting. You are on flat 3/4 BAB with this build, with no way to buff it yourself, and you are using a gimped weapon - the unarmed strike. Forget the dice you roll, it's the static bonuses and threat ranges that count, and you get less than anyone. The party rogue hits better than you do, on average, because his weapon enhancement is cheaper.

2) DR - yes, it will suck. At higher level your contribution will be to strike a pose, shout "Hi-ya!" and provide a flanking bonus, unless you get your damage up somehow.

3) Being ignored. You aren't harassing the enemy very well, and you can only do that when they attack you. So if they don't attack you, you do...what?

Possible Fixes: Going the finesse path with an agile AoMF is one way to make it work with decent damage, but that also means you will never get past some DRs, at all. Going for maneuvers you can use on your main attacks, like trip or disarm, will give you better functionality against tough foes and make it harder to ignore you, but this will only work anything like reliably at lower levels.

Here's my take on a similar build:

Monk.

Yes, that monks not so bad - because he's as much a fighter as a monk, so he doesn't lose out so badly.
