Today my PFS gunslinger reached level 7. I use HeroLab to maintain my characters and while leveling up I noticed a new deed I did not expect;
"Covering Shot (Ex): At 7th level, as an immediate reaction, when a gunslinger misses with a firearm attack, she can spend 1 grit point to pin down the target of that missed attack. The pinned-down target is treated as if it were entangled for 1 round. A gunslinger cannot choose to purposely miss a target to gain this effect."
Now the only mention I can find of this deed is in old playtest forums. I'm almost positive it's probably not legal but wanted to check as I also didn't find anything explicitly banning it (just the fact it's listed NOWHERE. Is this indeed a HeroLab mistake?
Thanks!

Noah: I have a level 10 Musketmaster. I can remember the only time Ive ever used this .. I was level 8 and it was quite effective at the time.
However Ive just noticed that this deed is NOT present in the list of deeds in the Gunslinger deed list on the Reference document. It IS however found in the BETA version of the Gunslinger. (which isnt legal for Society .. so now I feel very naughty. This should probably be brought to Herolabs attention pronto).
Im guessing that Covering shot was replaced by this:
Startling Shot (Ex): At 7th level, a gunslinger with least 1 grit point can spend a standard action to purposely miss a creature that she could normally hit with a firearm attack. When she does, that creature becomes flat-footed until the start of its next turn.
Which is slightly better in that it dosnt actually cost you any grit, but worse as in people who can take advantage of flat footed around my area are not very common.

Researching the bug and I find the reporter, imagine that! Thanks Noah. It looks like you're correct, from what I see. I'm removing the Covering Shot class ability from the class, but I'll leave it in the program in case anyone wants to house rule it in (which should be simple).
Cheapy: Yes indeed, to err is human after all. We do try to get things like this fixed ASAP though.
Later, all!
