Not at all, bud. I have played, and still play, with people spanning the globe. When I started here I played from Okinawa with a GM in Germany, players Aussieland, four of five US time zones, Canada, Norway, and one guy traveling around the world. I still play in most of those zones daily. You are golden. 8 hours is nothing,lol.

You can end up missing a bout of posting if the rest of the group really gets into it while you're at work or asleep but from what I can tell, your schedule is probably a bigger factor than your timezone on that. Most people on the boards have been pretty understanding that I've seen so if you let them know when your best posting times are, they adapt with a smile.
All in my limited experience anyway.

Basically this. If schedules sync up, there can sometimes be a flurry of posts which can speed up a pbp game which can be somewhat nice. That being said timezone may or may not play a factor in determining the time when you post as opposed to others.
