Critical vs opponent ac?

Rules Questions

Ok, so let's say I have the feat that doubles crit range on a wakizashi, making it 15-20. If I roll a 15 but it's not enough to hit the creature it will miss since it's not a natural 20 right? Or do I still get a confirmation roll bc I rolled a crit which might then give me a chance to have a roll high enough to hit? I'm pretty sure it just goes as a miss but wanted to double check.

You can't crit unless you hit. Even if you rolled within the weapon's crit range.

Only natural roll of 20 on attack roll is automatic hit. All other results must actually hit the target before you roll for confirmation.

Any natural roll of a 20 is an automatic hit. A roll to confirm should follow.

If you roll in your critical range, your total must still be enough to meet/exceed the targets defenses. Then, you may roll to confirm.
